Just reassembled my Genesis 1000 and the burner tubes move about a 1/4 inch back and forth inside the manifold. Is this normal?

I decided to use the angle aluminum for a smoother look. It's plenty strong though.

I plan on sanding the whole thing down and painting it. Also I'm going to put some kind of sealer in the gap around where to new piece is so water doesn't get in there and sit.

So in another thread I posted how I was able to get 3 of the 4 screws out that hold the drip pan rails. I plan on attempting to drill the broken one out this weekend. Also I found an old guard rail in a pile and saw that it had a piece I could use to replace the rotted cross beam on the frame...

Small victory tonight. The other 3 screws came out with no issue.

How did you make out with the bolts that broke off in the bottom for the pan rails? Mine snapped off with little effort so I'm going to be forced to drill them out. My two bolts that hold the manifold on are also basically welded to the box. The wing nuts came off easily enough so I'll probably...

Alrighty. So I gave it a try just to see what I was working with. Put the socket on a gently moved it and bingo. The bolt head snapped cleanly off. I knew that was going to happen. That thing basically disintegrated.
