    Thermocouple calibration - way off

Just a silly question... What would happen if the wiring was reversed on a thermocouple?

Jas, Sorry for the belated reply. I just got back stateside from Africa. The package you sent was waiting for me and I couldn't be happier with what was inside. You really have out did yourself. I am blown away with the quality of your work. I'm looking forward to putting the new Heatmeter...

How many Heatermeter/Raspi built so far

So I have built 2, 3.2 versions using a WRT54GL (plus an additional brick which I can;t figure out why), I also just finished a V4 Raspberry PI this evening although I'm still working on some Kinks... Thanks Bryan and all the great users of this forum...

    Debugging a 3.2 boards functionality

Happy New Year to everyone! Without going into a lot of detail about the circumstances, it appears that the ver 3.2 board I recently completed had the power to it reversed when it was installed in the linksys (attached the the serial header) and when power was applied something must have gotten...

    Maverick Probes

Thanks Dave, I will check this tomorrow night after work. I will start with the power supply, then the resistors. I am about to build-out my final 2 boards (ver 3.2) I think I will make the change that you recommended. I plan to complete one more linkMeter then try my hand at the RasberryPi...

    Maverick Probes

No, if you push them in to far, they just lose contact and go dead.... These are not being pushed in all of the way and are reading, the values just bounce about within about a 3 degree window. I just completed a rib smoke of about 5 hrs, the hotter the pit got, the more stable the pit probe...

    Maverick Probes

Thanks for all the information Dave, it really helps. I went ahead and fired up the Bullet and decided to do a test run using the new pit probe. I don't have any meat in the cooker but once the temps got up to operating range, things are setting down. Here is a 30 min video showing what I see...

    Maverick Probes

It does, Obviously I have to change the probe type in the linkmeter\heatmeter configuration, but the ET-72 probe seems to be working fine. Its only the ET-732 probes that are displaying this behavior. I purchased 6 of the ET-732 probes, 2 Pit and 4 food. It appears that I can duplicate this...

    Maverick Probes

So I live in El Paso Texas, my house is at about 3600 ft altitude. So when I put the probe in boiling water it gets up to about 209-210 degrees. But it still bounces around between 207 - 210 in a fashion similar to what you see at room temperature. Once again, with the ET-72 probe its pretty...

    Maverick Probes

Thanks Dave, I will give both suggestions a shot and report back.

    Maverick Probes

Actually I was mistaken, the LCD is reading the same values, its just whole numbers so it didn't appear to me at first to be changing as much. So I believe the serial connection is fine.

    Maverick Probes

So the probes are plugged in correctly, if I move the ET-72 probe into the pit jack (and change its configuration) it now reads steadily. And if I move the ET-732 into the ambient jack, I see the same behavior as I saw when it was in the "Pit" jack. If I push the probes to far into the jack, it...

    Maverick Probes

I purchased a set of the Maverick ET-732 Food and Pit probes and just hooked them up. My LinkMeter is sitting on my Kitchen table and has a ET-72 probe in the ambient jack. The Ambient probe is reading a steady 78.3 degrees. The pit probe (ET-732 - Probe 0) is cycling through different values...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Well, I finally got everything assembled and powered up. The Linkmeter is up and running and almost everything is working as intended. For some reason the LED display will not function. Its getting power but Displays nothing even if I adjust the contrast. In looking through the various threads...
