    Fuel consumption and refill frequency?

Anyone experimented with some type of heat sink to reduce fuel consumption? I have a couple fire bricks I put in there but no real feel for if they help. A large pan of water could serve a similar purpose.

    High Heat Recovery Time

I'm 4 weeks in with my EX-6. Have noticed very long recovery times after opening the lid to flip something on high heat cooks. Last night I tried doing something I normally do on my kettle...fried rice in the weber wok. What a disaster. The temps kept dropping after an initial set point of 450...

Weber shipping a hopper fix in March?

My EX-6 arrived Friday (lowes special order). I put it together myself, noted that I had the Rev F auger, and it came with the new hopper slide already installed. I have had few problems over 3 cooks, one high heat, one low hours, and one 10 hour yesterday. I did lose temp just at the end of the...

Pulled the trigger - my wife's reaction

How much was it? $1200. You're getting rid of some of the other grills and smokers, right? Yes. Good answer. Now I have to at least make some disappear off the porch. I'm not getting rid of the kettle, that's a cold, dead hand proposition. And my vintage SS performer is in bad shape so maybe...

    SmokeFire issues on YouTube.

Great video, but can you really trust a skinny pitmaster? :) Seriously, nice to see a dealership shooting fairly straight. Hoping this all gets figured out, I'm sitting here credit card at the ready...even if I have to wait a bit.

    Thanks, Chris, this is helpful.

1st comp, is one WSM enough?

I'm entering a "backyard" competition next month. I need help with my strategy for preparing pork and ribs on a single WSM (18.5"). The turn in times are about an hour or so apart, I believe. Assuming 12-14 hours for a pork cook and 4-5 hours for ribs, how should I go about this? It seems things...

Custom table for my trusty Performer

I have one but have not installed it...most of my beer is served on tap (homebrew). We'll see how the summer goes, it might make it on there.

Custom table for my trusty Performer

Thanks for all of the compliments. It was a fun project. Today I hooked the gas ignition back up (haven't used it in years). I converted it to run on Coleman disposable bottle now. I forgot how much I liked that. And, as I was storing the SS frame I found where I had stored the original kettle...

Custom table for my trusty Performer

That and the fabric is quite expensive...and of course the one I picked out was the most expensive of all. But, it should last a long time, I've been replacing the weber covers every 2-3 years anyway, and the ones for these vintage performers are getting harder to find. The fabric is "Sunbrella"...

Custom table for my trusty Performer

Ah, almost forgot about the tile. It was painful. I used a jigsaw and ceramic blade. I also used a circular saw for tile on the straight cuts. Counter is 1/2 inch plywood and hardie board with pre mixed thinset...used two small containers of that. Cutting the tile was one of the worst parts of...

Custom table for my trusty Performer

I've been kicking this idea around for many years and finally executed on it over the holidays. The forums here were an important part of my research so I wanted to contribute back to it by sharing the project. There is not a lot of info out there on how to do this- probably because out of the...
