    Some parts available.

Do you still have any of these that you'd like to get rid of? I could use one for my old HM. It stopped working years ago so I just control it with the web interface now but I'd sure buy one or two of those if you wanted to get rid of them! Thanks, Jay

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

As much as I love controlling everything in my house from my phone--including HM, I thought it might be nice to have the HM securely mounted in my stand so that it's protected from the elements and then remote the probes, display, and 4 way button in a lexan box that would easily be out of the...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Thanks, Bryan. I'll monkey around and see. I could also just use the HM Aux board and that might be a better way to try to do this. I started thinking about remoting the display as well and think I could do that over an old IDE cable. Or I'll just be happy to have two 4.2s up and running...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Yeah, I like that project of yours. I was reading the thread a couple of days ago. I'm thinking I can keep the single button and the display on the back side of a 4.2. It looks like I could drill right through the 4.2 HM board and miss the 12VDC+ leads between the button prongs. Worst case...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Thanks, Steve. I'm going to have to build another one it looks like! 4.2.F (F for Frankenstein)

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Thanks, Bryan. My system doesn't support the DWG but I'll check out Fusion 360 and see if I can get a STP file out of it. I was wondering... Do the holes on the opposite side of the LCD screen do the same thing as the holes on the side we use? In other words, take the picture below. If I...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Thanks, Ralph. I have it up and running! I'm thinking I'm going to do this new 4.2 w/ the Zero-w headless as I don't have the LCD on it at the moment. I did put the button on it but looking at this it would be a tight little package without the LCD and the Zero-w. It's only about a 1/4"...

Can I rebuild 4.2 Heatermeter with Pi Zero W?

Wow! That thing is cool! Configures the WiFi and everything! Thanks! I'll get it up and running tonight hopefully.

Off Topic - Build Mod for HM

Welding is tricky for sure! It makes me crazy trying to building a frame like that and making it square--it's all about square cuts, equal lengths, lots of measuring, lots of tacking, and then finally sequence and heat control. And after all that, it still won't be perfectly square but you can...

Can I rebuild 4.2 Heatermeter with Pi Zero W?

Does it matter if I LinkMeter v13 on the Pi Zero W or do I need to use the development snapshot of v14 to add a Zero W on a 4.2? I thought I read somewhere that it needed to be on the development snapshot but that might only be for the Pi 3 boards. It's funny that there isn't that much HM...

How does everyone use their Heatermeter when lighting their Big Green Egg?

I do the minion method. I have a small steel bucket (probably about 1/2 a gallon) from HD that I drilled 1/2 holes in around the circumference at the bottom of the bucket and I can stick a MAPP gas torch in. I put that on the gas grill and lay the torch on it's side to light the coals. These...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Thanks, Bryan! I like to think I'm better at networking than the average guy so I really was perplexed by this but it's running smoothly now. I'm excited about this Zero W thing!

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Ralph, THANK YOU! I had another 4gig Sandisk card and I flashed it with the v13 image and I'm running again. I still don't know what changed but I was able to get connected to the thing with the heatermeter/devices discovery tool and get the WiFi configured like I have in the past. I had no...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Thanks, Ralph. That setting thing sounds like the most reasonable reason to me now that you've detailed it. I know I'm on like v11 or v12--the last one before that servo timeout thing. I'd upgraded it and then downgraded because it wasn't working with my servo. I'm tempted to go with the rPi...

Dead Pi? 4.2 seems ok otherwise

Guys, I'm at a loss as to what's going on with my 4.2. It's working fine but I think the Raspberry Pi B board is screwed up somehow. This manifested itself when I changed my WiFi at home from a single point router/WiFi to a gateway with multiple access points all sharing the same SSID. I...

Why Servo Damper and Variable Speed Fan/Blower

I like the damper more than a fan/damper solution as well because the BGE's natural convection gets changed when a blower kicks in. What I see is that the fan blows the smoke out of the top of the BGE chimney when it kicks on. I've made some awesome BBQ that way nevertheless. What I like...

    Servo requires "tapping"

Very cool! I'm going to build my other one (I have a full kit that I haven't assembled yet) and put the new firmware on it and take 'er for a spin! Thanks, Bryan. That is good news!

    Servo requires "tapping"

Yeah, I had to revert to old firmware because I the move and rest mode is not compatible with my damper. I really wish that was an option in the GUI because servos are cheap--ruining meat due to a servo that didn't move is where the money is. And on top of that, my damper is several years old...

    HeaterMeter monitoring wine storage cabinet

I was going to start a new thread about wine storage and HM but did a search and here it is already! I've been working on a walk in wine room for a while and finally have it up and running. It's about a 10'x6' room and is going to hold somewhere north of 600 bottles when it's all done--I'm...

    Servo Driver Circuit (possibly dead?)

WAY MORE POWER! I got home after flashing my HM from work and realized that now that I'm back on v12, WAY MORE POWER in the servo. It felt like it was just barely moving in v13 but just flies in v12. When it bumped me in v12 (fingers, not in the canister) it just gave up like my 4 year old...
