LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Is there anyone still rocking the old Heatermeter/Linkmeter setup? What is the most recent version of OpenWRT you can get installed on your router? And how did you get it on there?

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Amazingly enough I finally got back to this. I was able to flash via TFTP. I did get things to display again. I know this is really old, but thanks! :) Now to start smoking again. YAY.

I figured so. Well I will keep trying at that then. Tried it a couple times already and wasn't able to get it working. Thanks Bryan!

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

I'm assuming I can tftp to whatever IP I have my linkmeter set up for? Or does it have to be .1?

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Weird, it's still having issues even when I hard coded the host name in to the IP. I thought I could maybe FTP it up to the router and then do it, but FTP isn't installed on the router so I can't do that, and it doesn't seem like FTPviaSSH is running either. So how do I go about doing it via...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Any reason why I would get a bad address for capnbry.net? I confirmed via the routers diag tools that it can see the website.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Help, I updated my Linkmeter with the updated AVR Firmware and now it isn't communicating with the OpenWRT software. I can control everything still from my button on the router but can't view any settings from Linkmeter. I updated to this version v3.2 v4.0 snapshots/trunk/heatermeter.hex Sat...

    Blower fan mounting

Amazingly enough I was able to sort of screw my blower onto the pipe I have attached to my Drum, don't know how long that will last, but it has held up with a couple smokes.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

I've put a claim in on him. Hoping to get back my $20. This WRT54G v6 is useless to me. Put claims in on him for misrepresentation of the product. It's morons like this guy that gives eBay a bad name. Me too, I got a v8. May be time to file my 1st eBay resolution request. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

One of the major issues I saw with the ET-732s is that their thickness makes them difficult to manage. IMO. Haha...I already had them from my ET732 when I buy new ones I'll have to get some 72s. I thought the ET732 was suppose to have improved probes. Oh well. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Ah hah, that's probably why mine kept shorting out, I run my cords between my drum and lid so the metal was probably shorting them. The probes actually carry current on the braid so there's a chance that touch them could affect the reading. The ET732s seem more susceptible than the other...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

ET-732 probes are piles of crap. I sent the ones I bought back and got the ET-72s instead.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

For the food probes yes, but the pit probe no, it should only alarm when it's out of specs (too high or too low temp), once it goes back in specs it should reset to where it will alarm if it goes of specs.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Thanks for this, I went ahead and bought one just in case an issue pops up with my GL. It looks to me like the WRT54G-TM layout is identical to the WRT54GL (with the cutout) except they have 32MB of RAM and 8MB of flash. These are amazing actually, considering you can get them for under $20 on...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Well I smoked some ribs today with my Linkmeter and it worked amazing. Once I got my air intake dialed in things were just about perfect, this will make things sooooo much more easy, especially for our 4th of July party. Light my pit at 11 PM dial it in by 12 and let it smoke the night away...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

I've determined the ET-732s are crap. I suggest not buying them due to inconsistent behavior. Fortunately I have a couple old probes that I can use for my pit temp instead of relying on something that barely works. That was a waste of money.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Well I'm starting to pull my hair out. I'm getting intermittent connections to all the probes. I've rechecked all the wires and everything looks right. I'll get a temp reading for 5 or so seconds and then it blanks out.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Is it typical for Probe 3 (or any probe for that matter) to show a temp even with nothing plugged in? Once I plug something in it appears to register correctly but when nothing is plugged in it fluctuates around 300.
