LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Quick question. For some reason (I don't recall if it did this before) my linkmeter reads 257F without a pit probe attached. Is that normal? Now I realize I'd never not have a pit probe attached, but I thought it was a little strange.

No differently than you would if it were acting as a router. It still has an IP address, it's just using the radios to connect to your wifi network, vs you connecting to the router via wifi.

Nope, I haven't built my board yet, but I have the stuff for it. Haven't decided if I'm going to use it, primarily because I don't really want to screw up cutting a button hole when I did such a good job on the LCD hole. If I could easily side mount it, I'd probably go for that route, but I'm...

My crimpers came today, and worked awesome (worth the money), so I was able to finish up my build. Seems to be working great! I made some of my connector cables too long so I had to sort of insulate everything with gaffers tape and shoehorn it into the router, but it seems to be working just...

Gah, why did I not think to try a diff baud rate. It worked splendidly at 57600, w/o even having to reset.

Ok, so this is my first time trying to upgrade via avrupdate. Getting some weirdness. First off, there's two avrupdate scripts on my Linkmeter: root@linkmeter:/tmp# ls -la /usr/bin/avrupdate /usr/sbin/avrupdate -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 753 Jan 24 16:26 /usr/bin/avrupdate...

This might work for 4 individual switches but watch out because the ALPS 4-way switch has a different pin arrangement which isn't 0.1" spacing. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I just ordered one of these to make my button board on. It has cuttable traces on it, so it should be simple. I'm not sure I'm going to even use a button on my build though, especially if we have a way to toggle the lid open mode via a mobile device. I don't see myself having the need to tweak...

I've heard good things about knockout, but haven't fiddled with it yet. When I was looking at the code I could tell you started it without jQuery and considered giving a rewrite a shot... but like you said if it's working why bother.

Oops yeah, thanks. I apparently broke this when I changed it to not recreate the items every time. I've switched it back because that's needed (unless I wanted to just recreate new click handlers every time, but I think this is more inline). </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Personally, I'd have done the...

Bryan, I've found a bug in the latest iteration of the configuration page. When you've clicked the presets link on a probe, your javascript creates the presets dialog box (via showCoeffPopup()) with the probeId of the probe you just clicked on. The links in that dialog call coeffClick(probeId...

FWIW, earlier when I was messing around with the current trunk build of Linkmeter, hitting the config page would cause lucid to crash. Once I got my heatermeter board working properly, the crashes stopped.

Heh, this thing is toast. It won't sync up now. I looked up the high voltage flash: http://www.societyofrobots.com...book/export/html/239 Yikes, I think I'll opt for buying a new one w/ bootloader from Sparkfun or Ebay.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. In other news, my hm board is up and running and reading temp probe data.

Well, I hosed this atmega chip pretty badly, can't seem to figure out how to rescue it. Might be time to get a new one. At some point I set some fuses improperly, or something. Any attempts to set them back to the defaults fail. avrdude -C etc/avrdude.conf -P /dev/tty.usbserial-A9007Wrk -c...

So I realized that I hadn't hooked up a 12v line from my router's barrel connector to my board when I was testing the other day, so that's what I did tonight. So my router boots and I see the board blink twice and initialize. When it's all booted, if I log in and stop lucid and cat...

Ah perfect, it makes sense now. Being a noob, I didn't quite grasp that the connectors on either side are mirrored. Now it clicks. Since my pololu order hadn't shipped, I tossed a pack of 1x6 headers in there so I don't have to mess around with splitting them up into a bunch of 2 pin headers...

Question re: LCD wiring. The diagram in the Wiki for the the LCD -> HM wiring has all 16 wires diagrammed, but in the picture Bryan uploaded to his Picasa album at: https://plus.google.com/photos...583017522?banner=pwa Only has 1,2,3,4,6 11,12,13,14 and I believe 16 hooked up, to what look like...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Nope, I did not. The alps switch finally came off of backorder at mouser and shipped the other day, so I'll have to figure out something soon. Initially was going to cobble something together on a radioshack PC board I had laying around, but I'm second guessing it now. I'd love to figure out a...

Have you tried swapping the RX and TX lines? I just tried it myself with just pin D2 hooked to the pin next to the pin labeled RST on the FTDI connector to the HeaterMeter. I believe it is labeled RX on the v3.1 boards. However, my logic analyzer says that the baud rate is actually 125000 on one...
