LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Assembled my 4.0 build tonight, and everything went well. Sorta. When I first setup this build, everything was fine (probe temps were showing up in LuCi, etc). I did something (who knows), and now everything is showing up as "off" in LuCi, I can't change the setpoint, etc. The LCD readout shows...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

What's the benefit of slower printing, is it more accurate than if it were running full speed? Better quality?

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Nice Tom! Looking forward to seeing what that thing is capable of.

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Is the difference between the "Strong & Flexible" and "Strong & Flexible Polished" finishes noticeable? Any reason not to go polished?

    sous vide thread

So, is anyone here doing sous vide without a crock pot? I have a fancy electronic crock pot, and don't really want to buy a new dumb one just for sous vide, so I'm thinking I will try to rig one up similar to the classic DIY Sous Vide Controller, only with the HeaterMeter controlling the coils...

Jarrod, try this pot instead (Bryan suggested it to me last week). Edit: Too slow, Ninja'd by Bryan!

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Thanks Alan. I had read through the thread but saw various posts about people having to haggle to get misprinted cases replaced, etc. I wasn't sure if everything ended up getting resolved to everyone's satisfaction or what. I've got another couple of weeks before I even have my hands on a 4.0...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Question: On my 3.2 build, the LCD doesn't always power on with the router. Functionally the board is fine, but sometimes it takes several replugs for the LCD to fire up. I'm using a 12v 1amp Linksys wall wart, and there's no obvious short or loose connection. Anyone run into this?

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

So, what's the consensus on the case right now? Is Shapeways the way to go? Is there an update re: clips vs screws? I'm a little hesitant to spend $90 on a case and end up with a potentially misprinted case.

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Thanks! Got my digikey and mouser orders placed, just have to wait for my board to arrive and I'm off to the races on my Pi build. :)

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the 10k trimmer resistor on the hardware list? Seems as though they are out of stock at Mouser and Digikey, and backordered until at least February.

Awesome. Got it up and running and it seems great! The IP display on the LCD on boot was a nice surprise. A happy new year surprise!

    J. Winn, if you want I can toss up the image I got from D. Peart, it works ok. It's older, so it's missing some features I liked (like time to completion), but it's better than a bricked HM.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Hmm, is there a trick to getting stock OpenWRT to take these .bins over the web interface? Every time I've tried to upgrade via the web interface with the LM images it always complains about it not being of the correct format. I tried this image over tftp as well, but the stock OpenWRT image I'm...

Got it just fine, thanks! I'll give it a shot in a few, fingers crossed. :)

Heh, is there a difference? I've got a gs, I'm willing to give that a shot. Do you mind emailing it to me? kyle at junglist.org :)

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

I don't suppose someone here happens to have a .bin laying around that works on WRT's that they could toss up on the web/email me? Unfortunately the posted builds with the latest builds of Attitude Adjustment are too mem hungry to run on the WRTs, and Bryan is understandably busy so rolling back...

    Hosed something up...

Heh blast. I was hoping I had one laying around still, but I didn't. No worries, I'll post in the other thread to see if anyone else has one laying around. Hopefully you'll get something sorted out as time allows. Appreciate it!

Bryan, do you happen to have an older image laying around (like pre-alarm code days) on the older AA build? I'm thinking of doing some smoking over the holidays but at this point I'd be doing so the old fashioned no fun way. :)

    Hosed something up...

Well, if that's true and the image you are already building is as barebones as it can be and still support linkmeter, well that sorta blows. I can't imagine the Linkmeter code adds that much overhead. I did notice that LuCi was dog slow on my WRT54G even w/o any Linkmeter stuff on top of it...
