LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

I had tried with 115200, no dice. No dice with 115200 and pins 2,3 either. I wonder what I'm missing.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Is there a trick to monitoring my HM output via say.. an arduino? I have my HM board hooked up to my arduino (3.3v & GND, digital 0,1 crossovered to the tx/rx), running a sketch like: #include <SoftwareSerial.h> SoftwareSerial HeterMeter(0, 1); void setup() { Serial.begin(9600)...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

The way I see it, by the time I bought a dog bowl, screws, some type of sheet metal and aluminum to fabricate brackets, and paid the $200 deductible to have my fingers sewed back on, I'd have been better off buying the Auber. The mockup looks great on the iPhone, the only issue is when you...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Good to know. I bought the blower and started figuring out how I was going to fabricate a bracket, etc, then I found that Auber one. I might just cut my losses and buy one since in the end it's going t end up costing me nearly as much to hack something together that doesn't even have a nice damper.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

I have one in my device and use it for my database stash. The stash concept will be fleshed out a little more to include storing description, keywords, maybe some annotations, but that's about it. I also created a small swap file which gives me a little extra breathing room on memory when...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Nope, I was exactly like the breadboard diagram, with the exception of the 22uF cap I had leftover from the HM build between reset and ground.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

I had the board set as "Atmega328 on a breadboard (8Mhz internal clock)" using the hardware.zip I downloaded from the website linked previously, and programmer as "ArduinoISP", using the ArduinoISP sketch distributed with 1.0. Then I just used "Burn bootloader", yanked the chip in my Arduino and...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Once I had my breadboard setup, and the reset disabled via the 22 uF cap, I just burnt the bootloader via the arduino software, then swapped the Atmega into my arduino to upload the sketch. The hardest part was getting that **** sync error resolved, which I don't believe is an issue on the Uno...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'm going to get the $35 version that is a bit wider (it's only $5, more, but it's out of stock until early feb). http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1928/pictures Crappy cell picture, but mine is starting to come together...

So, is there such a thing as an affordable pair of crimping pliers for these molexy things? I've found these: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10219 Which I assume are the correct thing, but $60 is too rich for my blood given how infrequently I'll use them. I was trying to crimp some by hand...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Ugh, I have been banging my head against my desk tonight trying to get this chip bootstrapped. I keep running into this error when I try on my Mac: (kyle@violane) ../bin/avrdude -C ./avrdude.conf -p m328p -P /dev/tty.usbserial-A9007Wrk -c avrisp -b 9600 -F|grep 328 avrdude: stk500_getsync()...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Dumb question. I have this Arduino laying around, and I compiled the latest HM sketch and it seems to work. I can just toss my HM's Atmega in there and flash it and then move it back to my HM board, right? I don't have to do anything fancy? I'm still waiting on parts to come in and some free...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

I didn't have to go through any of that to get my linkmeter to join my existing wifi network as a client.. I just went in to the configuration page -> Network -> Wifi, setup the appropriate info for my network under Advanced for Wlan0, set it as a client, and then added an interface (in my case...

Affirmative! That's what I figured the build number was. On my WRT54GS in the OpenWRT portion of the firmware, the form rendering seems abysmally slow, is it normally that way?

I know, right? I wish the sysupgrade would work properly but I have no idea why it does not. Probably something like "Kernel panic can't mount root filesystem" or something. You can use the surface-mount equivalent part and just glue it to your board with a drop of crazy glue. The little leads...

Haha, 75% failure rate? I don't like the sound of that, having to tftp flash is a pita! That board is the one I got off Duston, I believe it is from batchpcb.com. I'm a little annoyed that Mouser is backordered on the 4 way through mid Feb. Does anyone have any online sources for the ALPS...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Bryan, is this image able to be upgraded to via the web interface? I'm new to OpenWRT (more of a DD-wrt guy previously), but my existing Linkmeter firmware'd WRT won't let me flash this via the web interface (I assume because it's not a "sysupgrade" module). I tried using mtd via the command...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

While I am waiting for Mouser stuff to get off backorder, I cracked open the WRT54GS I had laying around that I installed linkmeter on. It says it's a rev "xa", and the serial headers on it appear to be different than what I've seen in other pics posted here. Am I right in assuming that I can...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 1

Thanks for the info! I just ordered up the mouse/digikey/polou parts list on the Wiki and some IC sockets, and have a 3.1 board on the way. Once I've had time to put the board together I'll see about getting a button board printed up or depending on time see about etching my own (I've always...
