Attaching the blower to the WSM - My idea

That is an 18.5 WSM. Now the can I used was from a large can of yams. I threw away the labels, so I dont have the size. I am *thinking* about putting some sort of gasket on the lip of the can so it is air tight. Not sure if this is over kill or not.

My WSM 18.5 Cart - Radiant Barrier, locking casters, and 3 hinged side walls

I live in Central Texas and I get TONS of high winds. It can also get quite cold. I had bought some SolarBoard (radiant barrier it is also called here in Texas) and was going to hinge it together to make a wind block and to help reflect the heat back towards the smoker. I then saw someone build...

Attaching the blower to the WSM - My idea

Ahhh yes. Melting. Duh. I should have though about that. Maybe just use thermal tape? I think I am going to paint the can black so it matches better and I do not look soo redneck :)

Attaching the blower to the WSM - My idea

While I was out buying parts for the WSM cart I am building, I was looking around for some sort of metal bowl/cup to attached to the wsm. Using this image as a reference idea, http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-128588856314212_2235_515369, I looked for camping coffee mugs, cat/dog bowls, metal...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Yes I know. Well, I need the USB for a wireless adapter. I guess that could rest safely in the case. I doubt I will use the Ethernet or hdmi. I guess when I need to I can just open the battery lid and plug into the Rpi there.

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I got my enclosure today. I think it will work quite well, even if it is a little bigger than the 3D case developed here. I will be able to layout the ports a little better I think. It has a cut out for a 2x16 LCD already with an acrylic window to cover and protect it. It also comes with a stand...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I was looking at the wiki and went through this forum, but does the HeaterMeter return data somehow? An API call or URL? I see the LinkMeter will "Get last HeaterMeter status update in JSON format". I want to build an Android App that can connect to the HeaterMeter, read probes, and where I can...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Ordered all my parts including a case I am going to try for the project... One thing I forgot to ask, is there a software alarm that can be triggered on a phone via the browser if temps reach a certain point? Or is the only alarm at this point the physical on on the board?

First, thanks so much for your patience and help. I am learning a lot and I am very excited for this project. I know n00bs like me can be overwhelming. So thank you! HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Another quick question... If I dont want to have the Rpi and HeatMeter stacked ontop of each, but say side by side. Can I use these wires to connect the two instead? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370720213032. Similar to this thread...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Do you have a picture of it connected via a floppy cable? Do you have to cut the connector off, strip each wire, and solder individually? For panel mounting, I am looking at buying: Probe Jacks: AUDIO JACK 2.5MM MONO x 4 -...
