Lazy Old Weber Guy Here - Thinking of the Searwood: What's all the fuss over Grill Marks?

As for me? I LOVE the technology and convenience aspect of my pellet grills. It's great tech and I think the Searwood looks like it is an incredible cooking machine

    Refreshing my 2008 Summit S-670

Yeah, when I explained the question was a bit confusing I was accused of being "testy". I may be "direct" (as even my wife will tell you I don't like to mince words) but definitely not "testy". Was simply trying to help by getting clarification

    Weber FT400

One awkward thing on that particular grill Steve. I wonder if it will work as well with stamped grates. I think due to no lid weber may be relying on the extra mass of those really heavy grates to help with cooking and heat retention. I could be wrong. But, worth a consideration. Nice you can...

Cody's Corner of Random Rehabbing & Shenanigans

Cody, I'd wondered. As I had PMd you a bit ago about a paint question. (don't worry about it right now). My sincere condolences and wishes to you and your family. Take good care of yourself and your family

Lazy Old Weber Guy Here - Thinking of the Searwood: What's all the fuss over Grill Marks?

Everything was satisfactory except the smoke that was generated did not enter the cooking chamber. So I think your wife would have liked them LOL. But I've been noticing this trend developing on the grill and it's beginning to bother me a bit. Since all the Ninjas utilize the same smoke...

    Weber FT400

Steve I bet if you keep an eye on FB Marketplace or what have you someone will be dumping a 1st gen Summit with likely some decent parts you can use like that control panel. There is good commonality between the full on Summit and the flat top

Wasn't testy. Simply confused. IDK why you felt it was testy. Yours apparently has the design with the stainless insert. They seem to hold up BUT the upper lip where the grates rest seems to rot away. In any case: Testy?! Nope. Confused? Yes.

Apparently yours doesn't have an issue. Otherwise I don't understand what it is you're questioning

Yes there is supposed to be 2 of those clips. Really it's an ingenious design for ease of maintenance

I am going to express some caution on FlexFlame, given some "issues" I am seeing on my Woodfire Pro XL which uses the same smoking technology. I have to dig into my Woodfire a bit and I will report back. But for example I just did some baby backs tonight on the Woodfire. It generated smoke but...

I will just leave this here

IIRC the tank hangs. It is a little 5lb tank

OK I have a STINKY situation HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what that aberration was in the photo. But whatever those remains were are now in the bag of my shop vac and I am DEFINITELY NOT gonna do a post mortem. Just gonna take that bag off and in the trash it goes. I had to open things up just a bit more but it made it easier to snake a hose...

OK I have a STINKY situation HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

IDK what that is. Maybe when I open things up more I can tell. I'll post back. Just took a lunch and coffee break. Heading back to it now

It's a nice grill BUT Z Grills support software for the PID controller is primitive at best, and their customer support is very sllllooooowwww to non existent. If I was gonna buy another I'd buy a Searwood, or a Traeger both of which have far better customer support where you don't have to email...

OK I have a STINKY situation HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK I followed advice from Timothy. I was able to carefully remove baseboard trim. Snuck the camera in and I THINK maybe I found some type of "remains" of something. I am going to open it up closer to where the camera saw this. Go in with my shop vac nozzle and clean everything out in there. Then...

Lazy Old Weber Guy Here - Thinking of the Searwood: What's all the fuss over Grill Marks?

Honestly I think on tis subject Horsman's complaints are mostly due to his crazy fascination with stipes on his meat and constantly opening the grill to look at his little pucks and such. I have a large Z Grill 1100 2B, and a Members Mark Pro Series pellet grill. Both have "top speeds" of 500...

I don't think I could get the trim off without breaking it. I'm not that good at it.

Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000

I will vary with Chat GPT. I don't like mineral spirits for prep cleaning. IMO it leaves a slight "film". After all it's just diesel that "knows somebody". Actually more akin to K1 kerosene.
