    HeaterMeter Hardware v4.2.4

The led are configurable in the UI. Fan running, lid mode, alarm etc can be configured for each led. A left click on the top-hat turns on Lid Mode and the default configuration turns on the yellow led.

Free to a good (UK) home!

Sure I actually purchased off Amazon.co.uk . See http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M0F1CDM/ eBay also has a lot of different suppliers. Look for 10K thermistors.

Free to a good (UK) home!

Exactly that. The Raspberry PI is warm and this gives an inaccurate ambient temperature.

Free to a good (UK) home!

I followed Tom Steed's excellent idea and made up an external ambient sensor with the thermistor in a 2.5mm plug. Ordering off fleabay, the minimum quantities that made sense were 4 x audio plugs and 10 x 10k thermistors. I now have three plug-in, external ambient sensors surplus to my...

What a noob. Just trashed my brand new v4.2.4 build

Well done Steve. It looks excellent! I love the crystal orange case colour. When I built mine I left the LED's loose and fit the board into the case, then soldered the legs. This gave the perfect length for the LED's to just "dome" out of the case.

so how are you attaching your blower to the smoker

Hi Gary, The smoker is the Frontier model from ProQ made by Macs BBQ. I believe they are marketed under the Napolean brand in North America. The basket is their stock part. I know replacements are available here in the UK and may also be available across the pond. It's also up on Amazon UK...

The Pizza Quest continues... Now with Kettle Pizza (long)

"Weld" is perhaps an exaggeration? More likely any fatty soot deposits carbonised. Aluminium needs 1200F to melt. Just saying.....

The Pizza Quest continues... Now with Kettle Pizza (long)

I've ordered a sheet of Skamotec (Danish product I believe) calcium silicate insulation board and will let you know how it works out.

The Pizza Quest continues... Now with Kettle Pizza (long)

A cast dome would be hard core but weight might be a challenge. The fire board I am going to try is rated up to 1200 C and is used for kiln lining. I'm likely going to use the calcium silicate as the vermiculite boards are twice as heavy - circa 6kg for a 55cm (22") disc. Both board type can be...

The Pizza Quest continues... Now with Kettle Pizza (long)

Thanks for the detailed post Tom. I've just finished building my own Kettle Pizza clone and this info will be very useful in my first tryout this weekend. Have you considered using Vermiculite or Calcium Silicate fire board on top? This would provide very good insulation i was also going to...

I'm glad it worked out for you Quincy. These adapters are obviously very variable!

2nd try at this pizza project.

Tony, I use a non-stick pizza screen after a number of frustrating attempts - mainly with the pizza getting tuck to the peel, worktop etc. I do all the toppings on the screen, transfer to the Weber, bake for a minute or two and slide the now firmer pizza directly onto the stone to finish the...

    Dedicated servo power supply

The yellow signal wire is included for programming the BEC using a Castle Link. The only thing programmable on the CC BEC's is the output voltage and the only way to do this is to purchase the programmer.

    Dedicated servo power supply

I fly a lot of R/C and I've not yet seen a BEC with a yellow pulse wire. All of mine 2 wire in and out. They typically have a fairly wide input voltage tolerance (~8V-26V) to allow them to be used with all the different LiPo cell counts in use. I've tried one on a wall wart and it worked...

    New Thermoworks probe versions

Looks like it will be more durable at the wire/probe point and maybe more water resistant. No way of using a grommet/gromlet hole though.

5 fans on my smoker would turn it into a forge! :D

    Heatermeter and BGE mini

Hi Nick - hartelijk welkom! I've not tried a BGE mini but have tried a Weber Go Anwhere as a big downscale from my 18" smoker. It controlled it fine using a jury rigged air feed. The HeaterMeter allows you to set the maximum fan speed so a stock/standard fan would be fine.

    Servo and fan connections

Gary, did you see the Blower and Servo Wiring https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/Blower-and-Servo-Wiring page on the wiki? Also have a look at the various dampers on http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?41158-so-how-are-you-attaching-your-blower-to-the-smoker I'm using a damper with...

    WiFi DHCP Problems

I echo Steve's recommendation here. I fought with an Edimax and another unknown dongles both of which worked on my other media RaspberryPi. I gave up and purchased a RT5370 chipset unit off Amazon. Big antenna, great range and rock solid connection.
