    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

On my first HM build I encountered this - I had the fan wired incorrectly to the 5v lead :) I'm using the fan that works on my 1st HM just fine - On the new build it runs 100% all the time - I tried turning it off hitting the left button to for lid open and it kept cruising at 100% Any ideas...

Question - oscillating above set point

Here's the chart from this morning - pretty steady overnight, had an "event" at 2am,..

Question - oscillating above set point

Thermocouple, I need to seal it up. Also lid is open about 50% I can turn that down to 25% and maybe that'll help as well.

Question - oscillating above set point

WSM 22" tonight. I would think if it is leaking air that the fan would simply not blow as much. But the fan is engaging before it drops below the set point.

Question - oscillating above set point

My settings are as follows, 4, .02, 5 I would expect the temp to oscillate around the set point, not above it?

How to see the WEB UI from anywhere?

Thanks for the explanation Steve! I was able to setup on port 443 on my Netgear router without an issue and access it.

How to see the WEB UI from anywhere?

What about security issues? How am I exposed if I do port forwarding as described?

    Lid Open/Closed condition

Good points! 18" WSM, using the stock fan that Bryan has in the kit. Here's my PID settings, I've not fiddled with them much, I think these are defaults. I should probably bump up my % activation on the lid open, 6% is 13deg, not a whole lot,...

    Lid Open/Closed condition

I'm back again on this issue. For some reason in the middle of the night it started flipping back and forth while I was asleep. Short of having an uninvited guest coming to my backyard and opening/closing the lid repeatedly for close to an hour. Any suggestions on how to diagnose this?

1st Adventure with Pork Belly to Bacon

Lesson learned - I had a terrible time controlling the temperature because I piled the charcoal and the wood. My smokers leak enough air and with only 6lbs of meat in the smoker, as soon as I added fuel it would want to spike, a couple times I put too much on and it got 20 degs over target...

1st Adventure with Pork Belly to Bacon

9 day cure, salt/pepper/bay leaf/nutmeg/brown sugar, overnight in the fridge to dry out, on the smoker going with apple for the first one. Using Bob Correll's smoking approach - doing 6 hours @ 135 and bumping pit temp to 160 until the meat hits 140F. Using the HeaterMeter for this event - :)

Wireless access to HM from Android/Windows client

I think that is it. I've got a multi-AP wireless network at the house with an HP Wireless Controller managing it all. I'll check that out,..

Wireless access to HM from Android/Windows client

Says it is unreachable from android or windows wireless clients.

Wireless access to HM from Android/Windows client

I'm a networking ignoramus. Now that we have that out of the way :) This is what I see from my wired network. From a wireless client - under "Available" on windows laptop, it gives me "timeout" on android devices I get "error". I turned off the dnsmesg service, but, that didn't make any...

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Initially had it at 225, and then raised it to 235, then realized it was going to get done too soon and turned it down to 200 :D It's working GREAT! AWESOME JOB Bryan!!

    Thermocoupler offset?

Thanks Bryan - I calibrated the TC this morning and it's spot on now with the new mV/C value. Interestingly enough, all 3 of the thermistors are <1 deg of 211F (boiling point @ my altitude)

    First Run this weekend

Huge THANK YOU to Bryan for helping me debug my build! Just ran a series of checks and I had a solder joint on a ground I missed and I had a couple of bad solder joints on a resistor. Gave everything a good look over and touched up any suspicious looking joints. Seems to be running great now!!!
