    Wire up the RDTC newbie

All I need to do is make the 4 connections on the HM board to the jack for pins 1 & 2, 7 & 8? I'm assuming that those thru holes make connections some where in one of the layers of the board? What's the best way to solder the wire into the thru holes for the jack? What sort of wire did you...

    LCD displaying gibberish

Missed a joint on the header, had a couple of questionable joints I touched up. Working dandy now :)

    LCD displaying gibberish

This is intermittent - it sometimes displays fine, then other times all gibberish. I'm figuring it's a cold soldered joint or a missed joint - so I'll be checking all the joints. Any other ideas welcome!

    Various Questions for Inquiring Minds

I'm going to the next level on my HM setup - 1) How did people wire up the standard fan? I took a CAT 5 ethernet cable, cut off the end, soldered the wires and used electrical tap with a single wire tie around the fan as a strain relief. 2) I'm working on a weather proof/mobile setup - my...

How much 12V power is needed?

As a data point - I found that this power supply was insufficient - the symptom was the HM rebooting continuously. https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B006GEPUYA/tvwb-20 Similar situation as this thread...

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

Ran 24 hours, no issues. I powered it down, installed it into the case and plugged it back in, came right back up no issues. I'm completely baffled, but, it's a good kind of baffled :) Thanks Ralph and Bryan for all your help!!!!

Just checked it in Voltage mode, worked that way as well.

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

Very interesting development - after checking everything, I reassembled the HM and plugged it in. It would be discovered but I couldn't access the GUI Tried power cycling it a couple times to no avail. Plugged in a monitor and a LAN connection - nothing, screen dark.' Did a reset off the LCD...

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

On the continuity checks - I checked 1-9 as described (several times), those all were as expected per the table. Not sure if this is important - since you pointed out Q1 would have a leg that makes continuity with #4 (as Ralph pointed out on his diagram) at some point I was touching #4 on the...

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

I checked a couple of things for continuity - There is NOT continuity between the BLOW pin and the 5V pin on the solder side. Also I checked various ground points for continuity to the GND lug on the power for the HM. I found continuity to Q1 and Q2 but NOT to Q5 for the pin on the right...

C12 is in correctly - per the side stripe.

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

at 0% fan, got just over 12V on oneside of R14, 7.8V on the other. D2 is a Diode - it's in right (both diodes are correct polarity), C12 is a capacitor?

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

    Q1 Center is 0V @ 0% and 3.3V @ 100% Output side, 8.21V @ 0%, .01V @ 100%

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

Q1 In voltage mode: on the 0/12V leg I'm only getting 7.6V @ 0%, it goes to 6.6V @ 100% In pulse mode, it's 7.5V @ 0% and 0V @ 100% In pulse mode the 0/3.3V leg, 3.3V @ 100%, 0V @ 0% And the fan still runs 100% either way I did check continuity as a sanity check on the BLOW pin and the lead to...

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

    Set min=0 max=100, startup max=100, on above 0% I had max=70%, :( it reads 0V at 0%, 3.28V @ 100% Thanks for the help Ralph - what's next? :)

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

the bent out Leg 5 on the ATmega is running 2.3V @ 100%, 1.15V@50% Did not see any solder bridges on Q1 or Q3 I'm not sure what I'm supposed to check on R14, it is the correct resistor and it's solder joints are ok from what I can tell.

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

On Q1: the leg that's supposed to be 0/3.3V, at 100% it's 2.3V, the leg that's supposed to be 0/12V is registering 2.3V @ 100% At 0%, the 0/3.3V leg is 0V, the 0/12V leg is 7.2V Need a hand on where to look next :)

    2nd Build - Fan running 100%

I can go into manual mode, change max to 50%(whatever) or change between pulse/voltage and it runs 100%.
