Finally assembled and fired up the grill for the first time for a burner adjustment check. Low seems pretty good, a little curious why the flame on the first burner and crossover "rolls" down the tube while the back 2 are solid. My ignitor almost never works there either, so maybe I need to...

My end caps have unthreaded posts cast into the mold. I have to use zip nuts to secure it to the metal lid.

Brilliant. Wish that worked for the aluminum lid sides. I really don't want to drill and bolt them...

Any better option than those awful zip nuts to hold the logo on? The ones I use just aren't as good as the OEM ones

Question for the group. Do I keep the Genesis Platinum badge or swap to the Summit? Wish I could keep both somehow. A lot of history for me with the Genesis badge....but I mean common, who doesn't want a Summit?

Slight update as I haven't had much time. Had to work some magic at the hardware store to get the adapters all right so I could use the Summit hose with the side. Burner Y.. Finally got the doors back on, but not real happy with them. Prob swap out the Genesis doors. I think they are the same...

That was my original plan, but the side panels are actually structural to the frame on the Summit, so removing required more work than expected. I'd like to try this project again with the 4 burner Summit cart, hoping that the panels would be more interchangable.

I think if you had access to stainless and knew how to weld you could do much better than I did in this area.

It will be exposed. In theory I could rivet some stainless paneling over it, but I wasn't planning on it as it is thick aluminum (as are the rivets)

Overall the project has gone a lot smoother than expected, however my measure of complete is not perfection, so the bar is lower. I'm really more concerned with long term reliability, so I'm willing to let a few fine details go for the sake of getting back to my 2 year old. So far only 2 major...

Getting closer. Tapped the firebox bolt and mounted it. Hopefully tomorrow I can get everything back together and mostly functional. Will figure out the sparker, front plate, and hangers under working conditions. I can't go another week without grilling.

It is absolutely insane that you can sell a grill for that kind of money. Beautiful or garbage, 5 years or 25, everyone lists a Weber for $125 or $400 in these parts. You would be lucky to sell that grill for $150 in Charleston. I flipped a 2018 Genesis with some surface rust around this time...

Angle iron is a resolution. I'll tap a couple of bolts in to secure it. So the same thing to create the H and bolt the firebox and we are off to the races.
