And a critical question. Wood handle is crazy hot. Why? Anything to do about this?

    Weber 1200 NG to LPG

I took a look at McMaster, which will end up pricey shipped, and called metal supermarkets in Canada which didn’t sell a z. options: 1)Leave z brackets painted. Probably good for many more years 2) grind brackets. Will lose part of the long part but should be enough to make new screw holes...

Thinking about getting a neighbour to route out the handlebar.. I have the old wood one for guide. Ran out of cedar for the base and the z bars are pretty rusty... so will check that out too.

Well I just found this on the street. Remotely sensible to try to cut and shape it?

got it. I’ll leave these in place and then see about making new aluminum ones when they fail. The top shelf ones are fine, it’s the bottom shelf ones under grill that are in bad shape. From what I’ve seen here, combining two L brackets is the way to go. Honestly I wouldn’t mind replacing wire a...

Yes. Is that bad? I sanded the rust but not completely off, I don’t think there would be enough metal left.

How does teak oil alone handle grease, snow and rain? Definitely much easier and I can return the $30 varathane.

I was planning to use teak oil and then varethane. I read about spar urethane here but the paint guy said that it would not apply on top of another treatment. Any recommendations?

Well, I got some leftover cedar to clean up the 1000. It looks so good I’m gonna do the grill I’m keeping. red or white cedar preferred? Both available and similarly priced.

New burners from weber. Centre burner design is smarter. But heat is not even. Hotter in front and on left side. I bought a high heat matte black spray paint for the table sides and manifold. Do I sand these down? What’s the best practice?

    Weber 1200 NG to LPG

I changed the orifices. No change. Then I changed the tops of the jets on a whim - more to see if I had messed something up when I took them off. Now all 3 burners work on low. Super odd. I also realized the jets don’t have the protective rubber on top - so they are somewhat rusted on the...

I think you’re right. I’ve used bbqs with a burnt out (Blown out?) crossover and the burner still ran on low. Looking after the kids so can maybe try again tomorrow am or after bed. Thoughts on swapping a jet if orifice swap isn’t conclusive?
