I’ve just found one of these, minus the right side table in Canada - but it is in ROUGH shape, rusty, pieces missing, even the lid is scratched. I’m thinking it’s too far gone. The only thing that looks solid is the small drip pan. Worth picking up?
Interesting. I always turn the tank, then the controls and have never had this issue. Opening the controls first, then the tank - have seen what you describe.

I wrote to him about shipping to Canada when I was researching the grill. He said to get a shipping estimate from eBay, which would be accurate. Wasn’t too bad.
FYI 000 and steel wool seems to have removed the tung oil.
I have found a few suppliers to make SS z-bars. Only one quote at $100 ~$70USD for a set of 11. (5 top, 4 bottom). How much does Dave Santana charge? Would also be interesting to know what they charge for flavour bars - which I think...
A few more questions.
#1 is removing and painting sides of hood pretty easy? It will look nice. The note I've seen here is not to sand too much in order to leave texture.
#2 I have 000 steel wool. Is it safe to use on hood, or should I pick up 0000?
#3 There is very minor rust on the frame...
