    Thermometer Replacement

I've got a bunch of old thermometers for my Genesis 2000, but curious if there's a more reliable/accurate one available. I can also just buy a new weber one for $10, but something tells me it won't be much better. Or maybe who cares, just continue gauging by feel which I've always done.

    What model is this?

For two hours of driving and $75 I can live without it! The condition really isn’t bad.

    What model is this?

Answering my own question - genesis 2. https://tvwbb.com/docs/1990-weber-genesis-brochure.pdf Searching to see if parts interchangeable with genesis 2000.

Genesis 1 for sale in Toronto

Not mine! Looks to me like a decent condition Genesis 1 NG for sale. I don’t see many of these so if you need parts maybe a good opportunity? https://www.facebook.com/share/nMgtyZxPqazetPJh/

    Igniter

Correct! Thank you. Next time I’ll use a wire wheel, would be faster.

    Igniter

And now the igniter works! But despite my cleaning flames are at least partially orange. Advice? Edit: speaking of obstruction the last few holes on that burner are not lighting! Weird, the holes are open.

    Igniter

The burner tube closest to the igniter had several blocked holes, but not near the igniter. Now clear. Photo of holes before cleaning and of igniter test. (Screencap as I couldn’t attach video) Will test once it’s back together.

It’s in my shed in Toronto. Free if you make the trip!

    Igniter

No, replaced the whole thing. With new parts. When I just did clean up I replaced with working one from a different (same gen) bbq

    Igniter

I’ve cleaned the holes, and the igniter sparks. Lights fine with a lighter.

    Igniter

Igniter sparks but doesn’t light the gas. What could be wrong? Have tried with several.

    1000-5000

When I did this 5 years ago I’d never used a table saw. Now I work in the field. What a difference. Ripping and chopping slats in 10 minutes instead of hours and hours and hours. Attaching in 5 minutes instead of doing math to figure out the spacing. OMG.

I have a router, but no table. Advice for routing out the holes? Looks great.

In the photo the slats are cedar. Original plastic handle on black hood. Blue hood has a cedar handle, but I haven’t routed it. I’m gonna spend 5 minutes sanding and/or just rip some new slats, I have lots of cedar kicking around right now.

I’m not sure what you’re saying! I have the original durawood slats and also this 4 year old cedar which needs a sanding. Edit: I figured out what you meant. Either revive the wood or go all durawood. I think I’ll revive the wood - there’s a reason I switched them all out when I got the bbq...

I swapped it out years ago but put back the original just now. Cast your vote! Debating cleaning up the cedar or putting back the thermowood.
