    Contemplating a Stoker – Questions

Chuck - I am by no means an expert at this but I'm going to give you my feedback. I don't use a bridge, I just use an old wireless router and connect my Stoker to it (both are located outside near the smoker -- but out of the weather). This means, I can connect to this wireless router from my...

    Safe stoker temps...how hot?

I have run as hot as 425 (when smoking a pizza) and have not had any problems with the probes.

    Info on Rock's Bar-B-Que??

I agree with this for the most part but I do like the ability to control the unit from my computer. My Stoker has worked well for me but I don't do comps. If I did, there is no way I would want to waste my time setting up the computer, bridge, Stoker, etc. I would definitely go with the...

    stoker on electric smoker

Great job on connecting to your electric Brinkman -- I had two of those when I first started smoking. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by Steve Sullivan: For those who run the stoker...

    Bad Stoker experience

I have had my Stoker for a little over a year. The only problem I have had was something I did wrong -- I put the fan in upside down which allowed the heat to slightly melt the fan blades. But a couple of attempts to contact John, and I was able to reach him. He told me to send it back in and...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Amir, I agree, let's lock the current version down soon. My comment was more directed towards if there is a way currently and I was just not finding it. It is absolutely not that important and can be held for a future revision. Thank you.

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

I ran StokerLogTest5 yesterday for a cook. I got the status line error several times, but it never interrupted the cook. I could change target temp on any meat probe (3) or the pit probe and it would update the Stoker (this actually cleared out the status line also, so that was good). Amir, I...

    Stoker blower/probe interaction issue

I've been looking at the Linksys wireless bridge, but my home wireless router uses WPA encryption. Everything I keep reading shows the wireless bridge has WEP encryption. Will this work for me?

    Stoker blower/probe interaction issue

Okay guys, you have talked me into this wireless bridge setup (also the wife likes the idea so cables don't have to be run out the back door). So, what do I need to make this work? My router in the house is a Linksys Wireless-B 2.4 Ghz Broadband Router. What sort of wireless bridge do I need...

    Stoker blower/probe interaction issue

Can you (or anyone for that matter) post up the Radio Shack part #s necessary to create your own cable? I have 4 of the 25' extensions, but I don't like having the connections for each cable laying on the ground (smoker is 100' from the house so 4 cables gets to be expensive). I'd rather have a...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Bob, you are right, it's letting me update the Stoker now via the StokerLog with 1 pit, 1 meat and 1 fan connected to the Stoker. Amir, I'll be doing a cook this weekend (nothing major) and I'll put it through an actual test for the StokerLog then. I'll report back afterwards.

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Amir, maybe I'm not doing a complete enough test. Because I just have 1 meat probe connected, no pit probe and no fan -- just letting StokerLog monitor the temp of the 1 meat probe while it's sitting here on the coffee table.

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Amir, that is correct. As soon as I try to update a target temp on a meat probe, and then click "Update Stoker", I get that pop-up message. I click Continue and then I can go to the Web browser and make any adjustments. Then I just have to have StokerLog refresh to read the web interface.

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Well, it looks like if I use the Web interface to make any updates and then refresh StokerLog, all seems to work well this way. But I can't make any updates via StokerLog. Not a problem now that I know the work-around.

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

I actually tried to update even before I got the status message, and I got that same pop-up message about Continue or Quit. Even after I got the message, I was still able to update via the web interface. Here's the pop-up message: Here are the "Details" See the end of this message for...
