    Stoker Probe Wire Length

Yep, all the "info" about each probe is in the plug itself. Using a splitter won't have any affect on the Stoker being able to read the plugs for all of the probes.

    Stoker Probe Wire Length

Just go to Radio Shack and get some 1/4" stereo headphone cables and splitters. Just don't put the fan on the same cable as your temp probes. Here are the Radio Shack part numbers and cables/splitters. Part No. 274-894 is the Gold-Plated 1/4" Stereo Headphone Plug Adapter which is one male to...

Another AMIR praise and a request for him

Amir, if you use the feature to detect if the lid/door is open, doesn't that affect the stability stats? Or does it recalculate after the "resume cook" initiates after the 5 minute delay? I've noticed during the 5 minute time period the stability is really bad (even though I know the temp just...

Stoker - Wireless communication without Internet

This has been an interesting thread to follow. Right now, I use an extra wireless router at home and at comps. I've been wanting to get a wireless bridge at home to connect into my main router at home so I could still have internet access while also running Stokerlog. It sounds like it will be...

    Sub Freezing Stoker Question

Pat, I'm one of the ones that uses the plastic box with the heating pad. And yes, it is more for the wireless router to stay warm to keep a connection with the laptop in the house running StokerLog. I've never had a problem with the Stoker unit itself in cold weather. But I don't use the...

    lost conection????

I've solved the problem about my wireless router not working in cold temps. I put my Stoker and wireless router in a plastic storage box that has a lid that "snaps" closed on the ends. This allows for the cables to run under the sides of the lid where it isn't locked down. For really cold...

Adding a Probe to Stoker Log

Success! Wow, that wasn't difficult at all to do the upgrade. The software version is now 2.1.300 on the Stoker. This will be so much nicer when running Stokerlog so the fan graph doesn't cover up most of the graph area. Thanks again Amir!

Adding a Probe to Stoker Log

Thanks Amir! Updating the firmware has me a little nervous though -- I recall an upgrade that was done just before I got my Stoker and several guys crashed the installation and ended up having to send them back to John at Rocks. Are there some step-by-step for dummy instructions on doing this...

Adding a Probe to Stoker Log

Thanks Amir. Sorry, I don't want to add additional work since you've put so much into this application already. I just thought I was doing something wrong. But on a different note now that I think of it. I see in some graphs that others have posted that the graph for the fan is always low (ie...

Adding a Probe to Stoker Log

Not trying to hijack the thread, but Amir, instead adding a probe, I have a problem when I remove a probe during a cook. I don't rename my probes (so they are still probe 3, probe 4 and probe 5 -- all food probes). If I start a cook with all 3 probes going and then pull the meat out for probe...

    Foggy Weather Question

Sorry, I can't help you with fog issues. The heaviest moisture I've dealt with is a really heavy dew. Then I just put the Stoker on a shelf under my prep table. It still gets a little moisture on it, but it hasn't affected it. Best of luck at the competition. How long can you use the Duracell...

Stoker Food Probes - 5 degrees high when fan is on?

Pat, I don't think you would see the flunctuations in the temp readings if you ran multiple fans on an extension. But I'm not sure if there would be enough power to run the fans if they all needed to come on at the same time. You could probably build a new cable with a heavier guage wire to...

Stoker Food Probes - 5 degrees high when fan is on?

Pat, yes that should take care of your problem. If the Stoker box is further away than the standard wire of the fan or probes, just use seperate extension cables -- where the fan is on its own extension and the probe wires on a different extension (with splitters if needed).

    Contemplating a Stoker – Questions

Chuck - I bought the wire racks at WalMart. They sell round ones and rectangular ones. They are intended to be disposable, but since they wash up fine in the dishwasher, we just reuse them. The cookies were cooked on the rectangular wire rack, that's my wood pizza peel that you see under it --...

Stoker Food Probes - 5 degrees high when fan is on?

Yep, if you use an extension cable from the stoker out to a "y" adapter and then split for the temp probes and fan, you'll get this discrepency. Kenny is right in that it is an issue with the current draw the interference it causes when the fan comes on. I had the same problem. Now I use two...

    Contemplating a Stoker – Questions

Tom, the Stoker will hold you at about any temp you want. I like to do pizzas in my smoker at 425. For fun, I cooled the smoker down to 350 and did a batch of these.
