I normally just click in the field for the target temp and make the change. Then I hit "tab" to move out of the field. This activates the "Update Stoker" button so then I click that. I haven't had any problems with losing the association between the pit probe and the fan.

If you are using any extension cables for your pit probe and fan, make sure the probe and fan are on different extension cables. When the fan runs, it will give you false readings on the pit probe. This can cause the fan to cycle on and off due to misread pit probe temps.

I've had my Stoker for over 4 years and I have the 5 cfm fan as well. We cook 3-4 comps per year and a lot of backyard cooking. So the fan is built to last. Are you sure you are getting enough air to the fan? You mentioned it is wrapped in foil -- is there an opening for air to get into the wrap?

Yes, the more you use the Stoker, the more it "learns" and will keep the temp more stable. The Stoker does have a "lid open detection" that will set the target temp to 32 for 5 minutes when it "senses" you have the lid or door open. I don't like this feature because sometimes I'm not done in 5...

Hi James - Only 1 pit probe is really necessary -- positioned at grate level (I would suggest top grate). You can use multiple meat probes (1 probe in each piece of meat in the thickest part so the probe does not touch a bone).

I use a heating pad in my plastic container. It keeps the Stoker and wireless bridge warm. I have more troubles with the wireless bridge in the cold temps than I do the Stoker. Also have to make sure to turn off the heating pad once the outside temp starts to get warm - the electronics don't...

Scott, no I haven't seen any issues when I get that message. I usually just hit F5 to have Stokerlog update - that clears the message.

Amir, I have seen this message a couple of times when I was using a wireless bridge. I just attributed it to a loss in signal during an update to Stokerlog while I was out by the smoker and moved the wireless bridge device.

If the frequency of the polling could be adjustable, would it be possible to maintain a graph of the data? Maybe as a separate screen? You should be able to zoom in on the graph. And could we add comments on the graph?
