    Want thermocouple support? Wait!

What you linked to will work fine as long as there are no other materials between the TC tip and terminal (ie copper).

    Want thermocouple support? Wait!

Bryan, I saw on the development thread that you have been looking at TC terminals. I'd also like to remind everyone that if they use a material that is not the same as TC's they are using, they can drastically throw off their measurements. For example, if the ambiant temp outside is 60...

1st time power up - garbage on LCD display

Dave, Sorry for the delay. I am using the standard ET-732 probes. As far as being nervous, don't be. Bryan did an excellent job a making the wiki to follow. Just be patient and look at the photos if you have any doubts. Ryan

1st time power up - garbage on LCD display

Well apparently my HM needed some time to come around to me. I did a continuity check as Bryan suggested. Everything checked out aOK. I put the soldering iron to a couple of joints that looked a little fat, plugged it back into the USB port and viola, I see the beautifull No Pit Probe...

1st time power up - garbage on LCD display

Darren, That was what I needed to make the picture display. You would think flickr would offer a nonencrypted link... Well, does anyone else have any ideas about my display now that you can see the photo? Thanks, Ryan

1st time power up - garbage on LCD display

Finally got around to powering up my HM and to my worst nightmares I did not get the friendly "No pit probe". I instead got a scrolling display of garbage. Can someone out there please help me? Thanks so much, Ryan

    Has anyone tried Rust-Oleum NeverWet?

For just about the same cost, order conformal coating spray from Mouser. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Techspray/2108-12S/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvJqaFk9BIiv4zFCTyhAuSzRGnZB8oiqmU%3d Shouldn't be an issue with board coating compatibility, BUUUT, changing parts out after you spray the coating on is...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Bryan, I am asking you because you know this project better than you know the back of your hand I bet. I am looking for ~100mA of 3.3V or 5V power. Seeing other peoples concerns about overheating I want to add a fan to my enclosure. I think there is that much available but wanted your input...

    LEDs

Sure will. Here at work we have clear and white vinyl sheets. I plan on printing on white but putting a smaller clear sheet over top of the LCD display to seal it off better.

    LEDs

Thanks Ralph. I am currently building my HM. It is slow going because my Mouser missed 2 resistors as well as I am trying to make mine weatherproof.

    LEDs

Bryan, Do you have a list of what the available LED congurations are? I am trying to make a front panel on vinyl and would like to label the LEDs. I have tried searching the forum but came up empty handed.

    Clarification on Parts

Yeah that would be a helpful procedure to mention. This rPi is dedicated for Heatermeter for me. I am currently working on making it waterproof as much as possible using a different case and cannon plugs for all connections. I plan on doing a full post on here once completed.

    Clarification on Parts

Darren, it's not just you with heat issues. I just got done taking the RCA jack off my rPi. I have a Weller WESD51 I keep @ 600degrees. I put the iron on the ROHS solder and it wouldn't melt more than what was directly touching the tip. I cranked the iron up to its max, 850degrees, and...

    Power problem?

It's actually common for a 12VDC wall wort to output up to 16VDC under no load. I had a bunch of Triad brand 12VDC 600mA wall worts at work outputting 16VDC. When we attached the cameras it was powering, the cameras would not work. I guess the cameras didn't place enough of a load on the wall...

Slow Maverick probes – impact on control?

I have 2 observations about the TC/Maverick chart. First is that the TC went high, then came back down. Did the oven heater element kick on from the door opening, and the TC picked this up? Secondly, both sensors appear to be smoothing out at ~290degrees, 40degrees higher than the oven was...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

This is what we use at work to make custom labels for equipment. http://www.papilio.com/inkjet%20waterproof%20adhesive%20film%20media.html It's about $12 for 10 sheets. You can also buy clear vinyl to go over you original that will protect it from scuffs and whatnot.

    WOW! Stoker WiFi Is Here!!!

I have been looking everywhere for some info on the Stoker and can't seem to locate it. Is it possible with the new Stoker to have only it serve as the host and view it from an iPhone, like at a competition? I don't want to have to have a computer or another wireless router in the mix, just...
