I have had good luck with esun pla. It is less than $25 per kilo on Amazon.

You should leave the fan on for PLA. You might just need to extrude at a lower temperature. I have printed PLA successfully between 190 and 225 with an E3D V6. You just have to do some test extrusion to find the upper and lower limits for each plastic. If all else fails, give it a little extra...

Yeah, you can't have any backlash in your Z drive. If you are using threaded rod with a nut for Z drive, auto-level or tramming is a waste of time. It works like a champ on my Mini with lead screws. My Taz machines also have lead screws now so backlash is not a problem at all. My original Taz...

A proper autoleveling system actually measures the bed and moves Z as X and Y move to keep the nozzle the same distance from the bed / previously printed part. It keeps the layer thicknesses consistent and really helps with the first layer. I have a Lulzbot Mini and a couple Lulzbot Taz...

    PitDroid 2.0

I use it every time I smoke. I am running Android 5.0.1 on a LG G3. No problems here. Does it break at 5.1?

Here is a picture of the interior of a E3D V6 nozzle that has been cleaned with SCIGRIP 4. It was full of PLA when I placed it in the solvent. The stuff works well! https://goo.gl/photos/PrwZfPJuoJS6robz7

This is so odd. I have had so few problems with PLA. Honestly, unless a fan dies or the hobbed bolt strips for some reason (erm, I forget to keep an eye on it and adjust) and leaves the PLA at temp for an extended period, it is flawless on my printers. No warping or splitting. It is great...

The volcano seems like a beast. Have you used any of the really large nozzles?

I agree starting at a lower temp is a good idea. However, it seems the nozzle is clogged badly at this point. A burn out might help. Soaking in Scigrip 4 might help but a new nozzle might be required.

When I switch from ABS to pla, I run 60 to 80 mm of pla through the hot end at 240 with no issues. If the fan is working correctly, you won't have any problems with the filament swelling inside the heat brake. I really think you cooked off some pla initially and are fighting with an...

That is odd. PLA is an odd material but I have had great results with it overall. It should extrude nicely somewhere between 180 and 225C. If you get it up around 250C it will char and cause clogs. Even at 225, where I generally print Ultimachine PLA, it will cause partial clogs if the...

I started having jamming problems with my E3D V6. It turned out to be the heatsink fan. It was running but at a reduced capacity. When I put the new one on it made a nice high pitched buzz the old one never did. Have not had a jam since. I think the old fan was defective from the start and I...

Scigrip 4 dissolves PLA. If my filament strips and the PLA sets in the hot nozzle for a few hours, I generally end up with a partial clog. Overnight in the Scigrip can takes care of it. I picked mine up on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00JFPF0UQ/tvwb-20

I could certainly help out with the cases if the need is there. Let's get that thread started so we can keep track of the requests and available printers.

    3D Printed Barrel Servo/Fan

You can always try makexyz.com or 3dhubs.com. They are services that can connect you with people that have printers and are willing to build parts for others. That type of service will likely be much less expensive that a commercial provider like Shapeways.
