    Webapp functional...

I'm able to add a new cook but when I try to upload my data file I get: This cook is not using a Stoker controller, please assign a Stoker to this cook. In the BBQ Controller combo box it only lists "homebrew". If I click on Add a BBQ Controller and fill in the following fields like so: Name...

    Ordered my Stoker Today!

A combo box is just programmer speak for the toggle box that allows you to select the blower. Sounds like you have it set right. The only time you need to forward port 23 is when you are using stokerLog which uses it when the Use HTTP only box is UNCHECKED. If you can't do IP reservation then...

Securing the Stoker with Internet access

I don't think you can secure it as you would need that code to be in embedded in the web server of the device. Also, if you have the Telnet port forwarding to the Stoker then someone could easily brick it if they wanted to. I think the best thing you could do would be to create a VPN on your...

Here's the use case of what I'm doing to try and create a new cook: 1)I go to: http://www.bbqbuds.com/rmongeon/cooks and I'm logged in. 2)I select "New Cook" 3)I enter the following in the New Cook Fields: Name = Test BBQ Cntrlr = my homebrew Cooker = WSM date = 2009 May 23 City = Rochester...

James, I checked my StokerLog data file. Looks like I have recorded all the data from every contest I competed in last year concatenated into 1 file. Will this be a problem? There must be at least 8 (12) hour sessions. -rob

Also, Forgot to mention that you should toggle the blower combo box on your probes to Weber 18 1/2 so the Stoker knows all the probes and blowers are grouped into the same pit. I'm not sure if this matters if you are only controlling a single pit but it helps to remain consistent. -rob

Here are the steps: 1)Setup an IP reservation for the MAC address of the stoker on your router. Lets say your stoker's MAC is 00:00:FF:AA:BB:CC. Make a reservation on your router such that the MAC address above is always assigned the IP address 192.168.1.102 or some other number. I'm not sure...

    OVERWHELMED ideas & help PLEASE

Mark, I found the thread and it is here: Wireless access with a WAP The main reason why to do this is if you don't have a spare "field" router for the comps then you could just bring your WAP. However, I ended up just getting a spare WRT54G and tossing it in my electronics box rather than...

    OVERWHELMED ideas & help PLEASE

There is a way to do this. Pat and I figured it out on another thread. You need to set the WAP (game adapter) up in AD-HOC mode with a unique SSID (network ID). Then in XP you need to go into the settings of your wireless adapter and set a static IP address on your wireless card to say...

    Stoker Extension Cable Problem

Yeah - What Amir said. If used as a stand alone unit as shipped it's as easy as pie. When you start customizing it then you need to do a little research. It's far easier to customize the Stoker than it is to do the same thing to its closest competitor. Try finding a probe extension cable for a...

    Stoker Extension Cable Problem

Tim, As a final check you might want to just take a normal kitchen thermo and let it come to temp at the same location as the pit probes. Make sure the temps on both are about equal. If not then you may need to recalibrate the stoker. -rob

    22 WSM- fan size/ accessories

Morrey, You should be fine with a 10CFM. Use the water pan for a deflector. BTW, at comps we never "smoke" thighs. It's all done 2 hours on a weber kettle in a half pan with butter. we're going to use the Myron method this year (muffin tins) though. We took 3 walks for thighs last year so I'm...

    OVERWHELMED ideas & help PLEASE

Well, that's what I do. I guess you could extend your wireless with the router if it acts like a repeater although I've never done this. You'd have to reconfigure the router each time you use it in a different location though. I use DD-WRT firmware which allows me to adjust the output wattage...

    Stoker Extension Cable Problem

a couple of suggestions: 1) Test the extensions with an audio headset to see if you get sound in both ears. You might need a 1/8 Male to iPod/earbud female conversion jack for this if you don't have 1/8 headphones 2)Plug in 1 probe at a time. 3)For the moment, forget about StokerLog and just...

    OVERWHELMED ideas & help PLEASE

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see the need to have a router in your garage if you are just connecting it to another router. If you have CAT5 running to your first (wireless) router then just connect the stoker up to that router with your CAT5. Having 2 routers with the same wireless net...

While it's easier to associate probes with a blower, it can also be done on the Stoker itself (without a computer): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieDIHMIVK-k -rob

I've seen a couple on Ray Basso's BBQ forum in the Buy/Sell section. They usually sell with a cooker but some are willing to sell them separately. Search for "BBQ Forum". -rob
