    UDT= Ugly Drum Tandoor

    Sean: it weighs a TON! When I moved last summer the movers didn't believe me. 3 guys hoisted it onto the truck (i told them to bring a ramp to roll it up), then nearly broke themselves trying to get it off the truck. I have figured a way to move it around the property (only if absolutely...

    Yellow Ranger rehab pics

    Awesome work! I'm trying to restore a red Performer - Dupli-color Engine red engine enamel is a good match for the red, about $5-6$ a can. Did not try a paint store. VHT makes a red that is rated to 2000F but the color is nowhere near as pretty as the Dupli-color. I hear that the Duplicolor will...

    [COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

    A little progress... Not sure why I started painting when i still had holes to drill... oh well Lessons learned today: - careful when tapping the bowl with a nail punch. It is possible to chip and crack the porcelain finish, even have it flake off. Don't ask how I know that. -measure twice...

    SS Performer Question

    Just order the retaining clip and regulator/hose assembly. I think the pre-2000 burner will fit the new regulator hose, but if in doubt get the new burner as well. The new TNG will take the camping propane tanks. Or else you can look for another Performer to cannibalize for parts.

    Let me be the first... good grief man! Fire that puppy up and get it dirty!! Parts for Touch-N-Go and One Touch cleaner arrived today. Woohoo! The cart is painted, now have to work on finishing the bowl so I can do the final assembly.

    I'm jealous that you are enjoying your Performer Finished painting the cart with Rustoleum high heat ultra. I like the semi-gloss finish. The stainless steel cleaned up really well with Bar Keeper's Friend from Lowes. Still working on the layers of engine enamel on the bowl. The One Touch...

    UDT= Ugly Drum Tandoor

    I'm posting pics and a description of the build process, as request by a member in another discussion area. I figured this would be the appropriate area. This comes from a post of mine on another forum. The UDT was built in 2008. "I can't lay claim to inventing the drum tandoor... my build was...

    Shaun: I'll have to dig up the pics. What would be the appropriate area of the forum to post them in? I could post them in another thread in the Weber Charcoal section if that's ok?

    [COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

    Thanks! Painting is turning out to be a sloooow process - building up layers over the worst rusted spots is taking time, added to time spent waiting for parts from Amazon and Weber. If only I didn't have to go to work every day...

    Performer Propane Igniter (whats needed)

    I think you just screw in a canister and you're ready. There should be a small black knob under the flap on the front panel, which you turn to let air flow to the burner. Hit the igniter button and you should have fire!

    An update... I made a homebrew ash catcher bar. Bought a 3'long x 1/8" thick x 1.5" wide aluminium bar from Lowes. I had the old broken ash cathcer bar to kind of guide me. Used an adjustable wrench, hacksaw, file, and bench vise (without the bench) Started with a 12" piece until it was bent...

    Finally restored the '03 SS Performer CL find...

    Good looking Performer there! Can you elaborate on the bike part mod? What part was it for? I'm restoring an SS Performer and am looking for cheap fixes.

    One Touch Platinum vs Performer

    I say get the Performer because it is more functional... has 4 wheels - you could ride it around the block sometimes. Just kidding. I think the Performer is the better choice because of the worktable/space. Also because I have one and can't wait to get to using it! (it is currently being...

    [COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

    Hello all. I picked up a beauty (in my eyes at least) recently, and am knees deep in restoring it to its former glory. First, I thought I had a mutant - no propane assist, no vents. Then found out I had a non-Touch-N-Go pre-2000 Performer (even though the datestamp is DT - must be a donor lid)...

    Red Head Rehab

    Great job!! I picked up a Red Performer recently and am trying to repaint it. Mine had some rust on the bowl and will need some replacement parts. Did you have to replace the bar that holds the ash catcher in place? I need a new one, but I guess I could wire it in place if necessary. Have fun...
