    New Performer for Mother's Day!

You're gonna love that Performer! If it's new you need the small camping propane tanks for the starter. It's really nice to have some workspace attached to the grill, and space to keep other things handy while you grill. Enjoy!

Charcoal Go-Anywhere wooden handles - Fit Weber Kettles?

Picked up a charcoal WGA with wood handles (lid vents have "B" code, don't know what year that is). The grill is in good shape, but I mainly wanted the handles - $5 for 3 sets! The handles have 2 rivets (no screws/bolts) each. If I wanted to transfer these handles to my kettles, do I just...

I'm thinking of getting a rotisserie for my kettle

Thanks, George. The last time I bought some it was about $12 at a fireplace store. Guess $2 is the price I pay for immediate gratification!

I'm thinking of getting a rotisserie for my kettle

I've done chicken on mine and it has been great (both on a kettle and on my Performer). I want to try doing a hot and fast pork butt next. I don't mean to hijack... but where can I get cheap rope gasket? I posted in the Accessories forum too by mistake. Also, how long should the rope gasket be...

    Rotisserie

I need the rope gasket to stop the leaks when I set up my rotis ring. Could someone point me to a cheap(er) source for it, and what length do I need? Thanks.

    Black Handles?

Hypothetically speaking... What if one were to buy a copper kettle, register it... then order the set of handles. And then return the grill. Would that be terrible? Not that I would do such a thing... but just sayin'. Depends on how bad you want the black handles, I guess.

Just got a new performer, tips needed

An old Cook's Illustrated trick was to save a card board milk carton (the bigger one) and use to measure charcoal before throwing it on. Or you could use a chimney starter to figure out how much you are using. There is always the age-old method of counting one by one (but that gets old after a...

    Rotissseree for the performer ???

I recently used my regular weber kettle rotisserie on the performer with good results. There was a bit of a leak initally because of the probe grommets I installed , but I added a foil gasket and things went swimmingly. I was not aware of a special rotisserie for the performer - isn't it the...

    Model/serial number location ???

You don't really need the serial number for anything, although the date stamp on the lid damper does confer bragging rights. If you google, you can find the manual for the old performer, including an exploded view of the schematics diagram. All parts should be indetifiable for you to order. When...

    Performer Cover

That's correct - 8701 is for the older ss Performer. I confirmed this with Weber previously.

    Help Restoring a 1997 Mastertouch

WOW! You cleaned up your grill very well - I thought it was a NIB purchase when I saw the inside. Good luck with the restoration. I'll be following keenly to learn somehting for possible future use!

[COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

An update: After I finished this project and started using my Performer, I realized that the frame was quite rickety as I moved it around. Took it apart and found out that the connectors inside the bottom crossbars (which connect the two ends of the frame together) were rusted and...

A Craigs List find for Me! Finally!

Corey - that's an awesome looking grill! I just finished a similar restoration (see my thread for detaisl)- took everything apart and repainted. Added the TNG which I absolutely love. After finishing my project, I recently noticed that the bottom cross supports which run the length of the cart...

What to do with extra Performer Parts?

I've seen it done on another forum. Have also seen 2 drums on a performer cart which looked pretty sweet as well.

What to do with extra Performer Parts?

Wow! Did the original get run over or something? There are so many options... I think the easiest would be to stick some legs on and have an extra grill to use. Or, go crazy and try to build a pizza kettle or something. i would definitely experiment - buying the parts from Weber to make another...

Make your own eyelets/grommets for under $5

What a great mod for $5!! Just installed one on my restored Performer, since on the very first cook I noticed that the probe wires were kinda crimped tight under the lid. There is still a little wiggle when I use them with my Weber kettle (non-weber lid) and UDS (Weber kettle lid), but with...

[COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

Thanks Mikey! I actually threw on a couple of coats of the rustoleum red sans primer before painting with a few layers of the duplicolor ( I went a little paint crazy). I think the areas which were rusty are pretty well fortified now. I'll see how things turn out - maybe I'll try the rustoleum...

[COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

ITS FINALLY DONE!!! Final assembly was completed on Friday, so I took some pics. The first cook was these beautiful veal chops I picked up from Costco, already marinated in red wine and rosemary. First bite almost made me cry. They look more yellow than they should because I'm still taking...

[COMPLETED!]...Red Weber SS Performer Restoration... $20 CL score...[Now with pics!!]

Time for the final assembly. Did not take pics yet of the fitting of the propane burner to the bowl or of the regulator to the tool tray insert of the cart, but I'll get those soon. The pics were taken with my phone and are not great ( I won't win any awards for photography or my paint job on...
