    2005 Genesis Platinum Restoration

For the high heat paint i'm not sure, I don't think anyone has found an exact match. I think one of the Stovebrite or VHT paints might be a match? I'll have to dig up one of the threads on here about it. My cook box and lid end caps have some slight oxidation, mine was actually New, never cooked...

    2005 Genesis Platinum Restoration

Nice Grill! I recently got one of these myself. These things look pretty good all cleaned up with all the stainless on them! If you're up for a few more coats of paint, Rustoleum Massey Ferguson Grey is an almost exact match for the frame panels. I bought mine from a Tractor Supply Store at...

Best tool I've bought for restoring Weber's? Rockwell Jawhorse gets my vote.

These Jawhorses seem awesome, but what's more awesome, I never considered the option of using my 1/4 sheet sander to sand the end caps and cook boxes, I was using a sheet or course emory cloth by hand and wasn't getting where I wanted to be... Do you use metal sand paper? or standard stuff?

    Anyone have this part?

No, just the end cap, I broke it when trying to get it out of the frame, it was stuck in there.

    Anyone have this part?

probably a long shot, but Does anyone have a left side end cap for a Silver B with the swing up thermoset table they would be willing to part with? I broke one trying to remove it, and could really use another. Thanks! Rich

    So... What's the latest "consensus" on grates/bars for a Genny B/C ?

Bruce, what set of flavor bars can be had for $15. I'd love to grab a set! Edit** Never Mind I think I found them: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SR9KHKR/?tag=tvwb-20

    What to do about rust?

I would repair the bar for the table, and probably the same for the catch pan holder. Id knock off the loose stuff, scuff it up, hit it with rust converter and then coat them both gloss black. That being said, the catch pan holder and pan can be had on amazon for less than $20. There is one...

I will just leave this here

This one is interesting... is this a summit that was modified to work as a built in, or did weber sell this kind of thing? At least it's free. https://boston.craigslist.org/nos/zip/d/winchester-built-in-weber-grill/7203395354.html

    Genesis E-310 vs Earlier Models

Jeff, You could say it was in rough shape... I replaced the cross member, I ripped some wood to slip inside of the front legs, ground the rust and rot out, then patched it with some tube stock I split length wise to sure it up, for personal use its fine, would look horrible to flip... do you...

    Genesis E-310 vs Earlier Models

Jeff, I might be, I just need to decide which grill(s) I am going to keep! I am thinking the e310 and the stainless grill, but I do have a platinum like yours I could restore!

    Genesis Silver C Resto

This brings up a question I had with my Platinum grill, what the heck is that long L shaped bracket sticking out into the cabinet? I believe it was a "Tank Deflector" or something according to the weber manual. Looks like your restoration is coming out great so far!

    Genesis E-310 vs Earlier Models

Thanks for the insight, I really like the Look of the E310, and can tell its quality but certainly not the same as the older generations. I like the larger surgace area as well. I am glad I am not the only one that owns and intends to use multiple grills. My next venture will probably be a...

    Genesis E-310 vs Earlier Models

I was given a genesis E-310 by my neighbor in relatively decent shape, bottom panel was rusted, and legs/sides in solid shape. I replaced the burners, flavor bars, and igniter, and rust treated the bottom panel, and will replace it at a later time. Cleaned up real nice. Cook box is in OK shape...

Huh, I think I bought #10 x 1/2" for my genesis platinum C... maybe i got the wrong ones, they threaded in ok...

    Genesis Platinum C Rebuild

Bruce, that was my initial thought, flip it to an open cabinet design, put a colored lid on it and then put thermoset tables on both flip up panels and in place of the left side and side burner. I was inspired by your SS frame grills as well as some of the other posts in the "Lego" build...

    Genesis Platinum C Rebuild

I figured it was a long shot, but worth an ask. I know the common thing to do is strip the cabinet and convert to a cart for rust prevention so I thought maybe some people would have some parts. So is the VHT Charcoal grey the best match to this color lid? or is that mostly for the 300 series...

    Genesis Platinum C Rebuild

does anyone have any spares from this grill they might be willing to part with? End Tables, Control panel, Wheels, or the Handles for the doors? Mine aren't in such great shape. What about good replacements for the rubber feet on the table?

    Genesis Platinum C Rebuild

It was a little more money and a little farther than I should have paid for it, or driven for it, especially since its "new" but was obviously stored outside for a long time. I have blue, red and green lids to flip it out with. I am working on cleaning them up. I just don't have as much time...

    Genesis Platinum C Rebuild

I've already sort of rushed through it, I regret not taking more time on the panels, and I scraped everything down, and sprayed it all with rust converter then hit it with the Massey Ferguson Grey. I would like to clean up the lid end caps, but there isn't a great match to the paint on these, is...
