HeaterMeter and Kamado Joe Classic II

Thanks for all the great info. I'm trying to troubleshoot somethings. When you first turn on with ambient probe, what should normal operation look like? Mine always starts off with fan on. Damper, I'm working to correct the wires as I destroyed my jack with too much solder on the servo wire when...

    Servo/Fan Wiring to Jack

Should I have been "tinning" the servo wires (or other wirings) with solder?

    Servo/Fan Wiring to Jack

Ok, finally hooked up everything. My fan is working but damper would not work. I isolated the issue to the servo signal wire on pin 6. When I touch the servo signal wire (yellow) to the pin 6, it will open close. Any ideas on how to fix the problem? The servo wires are pretty thin. I've used a...

HeaterMeter and Kamado Joe Classic II

Thanks for all your suggestions. I tried the smooth adapter output but was not very tight and thought I try the screw adapter. How tight is the smooth adapter supposed to be. I can wiggle it alittle and it will fall out. Maybe I can put something in there to get a tighter fit.

HeaterMeter and Kamado Joe Classic II

Excellent thanks! I'm just waiting for a j2 connector and should be good to go. How are you guys connecting your heater meter to the bbq guru plate? I went to Lowe's and a employee went up and down the aisles to connect the threaded tip to no avail. I tried a emt conduit that threaded in great...

HeaterMeter and Kamado Joe Classic II

Good info! I'd this the setting you reference? Latest PID settings 1. Large BGE B: 0 P: 2.5 I: 0.0035 D: 6 Min fan: 10% Max fan 40% servo: on/off So you think this setting would work with a adapt a damper for my classic 2?

    Servo/Fan Wiring to Jack

I'm just grateful for the help. Hope you feel better. It looks like the capacitor then, should go to the 6 and 3 pins on the jack? This seems to correspond to the servo power and servo signal pins? WBegg's capacitor seems to be connected to the 3 and 4 pins? Unless the arrangement is different...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Thanks! I will be installing the capacitor. Did you have to thin out the plastic wire cover to punch the wires through with a punch pen? The wire gauge seems thick? Thanks for your support!

HeaterMeter and Kamado Joe Classic II

For you KJ users, how much of the top vent do you leave open? Also do you keep to the default setting on the software or change it up for the KJ Classic? I have the Classic II.

    Servo/Fan Wiring to Jack

Thanks for the info! I am still trying to get an idea for parts on how and what to connect to the the ethernet jack from the connectors on the servo and blower but I think I'm slowly getting an idea. Could you explain the whole reverse servo action in the setup screen? Is that just a software...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Do you have other pictures that show how you connected the wires and connectors on the Ethernet jack? This seems really elegant.

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Hello all. Just received my parts including the adapt a damper. I noticed WBegg's servo/fan wirings had the connectors attached to the ends and somehow attached to the rj45 jack. Is there instructions for that part? It seems like an elegant way rather than cutting off the servo/fan wiring ends...

    Servo/Fan Wiring to Jack

Hello. A complete newbie question here. I am having the same problem figuring the wiring for the servo and fan. The fan wires are bare wires. Do I just push it down horizontally on the ethernet box? The servo has a pin connector on mine. Do I need to cut it off and put the bare wires on the...
