HM keeps overshooting and then fire dies and needs to be relit at 225.

The other thing you can do is lower the I I use 0.0004 on the grill. That will keep the overshooting down

HM keeps overshooting and then fire dies and needs to be relit at 225.

Have you tested your probe in boiling water? Also google the temp water boils at in your location. I only had a flame out once and that was because my cable was not connected to the fan. I never had a problem with the hm, ever! Yes it took a bit to tune and control overshoot. One other thing to...

HM keeps overshooting and then fire dies and needs to be relit at 225.

Jason this is probably one of the hardest grill to control. I have one and let's face it once you overshoot you might as well throw a bag of ice on the grill to cool it off. So the key to setting this one up is low proportial values like 1.0-3.0 high derivitaves of 4.0-8.0. You need a nice tight...

my HM case is deforming ...

Yes I have printed a case using PLA and it warped so bad it damaged the SD card slot on the PI board. I bent the pins back, and got it working but I have long switched to ABS, my PLA printer is collecting dust. ABS seems to be the way to go on parts that get hotter than 110 degrees f. In...

    Port Forwarding Tutorial?

One thing to keep in mind a lot of IP's are starting to block port 80 on their end so you might have to use a different port like 8080 or something like that. I had to because cox will not allow traffic on 80. I use COX so if you have that keep that in mind.

For hose if you with 3D Printers

Yes getting them dialed in is a serious PITA, I have a cheapo XYZ Davinci JR. It does ok but I just learned how to keep my prints from curling. I don't think this printer could output the quality that someone would want to pay for anyways. I'm still learning on it, and I don't even have that...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

Have you checked your voltage, the only explanation is your 5 volts might be sagging. Servos can draw a lot of current stall current is 430ma for a mg90 that is a lot of current plus a fan you could be experiencing brown outs. Servo speed is dependent on supply voltage, lower volts the slower...

    Shees Alive She is ALIVE

Ok I got my first smoke done, and on the maiden voyage I figured out a couple things. First the servo damper was rocking, my fan hardly ever ran, instead the servo did all the work!! WHOOO HOOOOO, I sealed up my Chargriller Acorn and it paid dividends last night. I was hoping that I could get...

    Shees Alive She is ALIVE

I have employed the burnin burnin ring of fire the ring of fire. That seems to work the best right now I have a volcano and tunning it is a *****.. It lights to much up then takes forever to cool off. I am having a hell of a time tuning... I just sealed my acorn and it's being very...

    Shees Alive She is ALIVE

Chargriller Acorn, I have a seal kit that I have yet to install, been busy getting my heater meter ready to go. However I am going to smoke a whole chicken this afternoon for the maiden cook. I want to get my PID tuned and my grill dialed in. I have a Partyq that I was using but it wasn't as...

    Shees Alive She is ALIVE

I assembled my first Heater Meter, and it fired right up without any issues! I was nervous at first everything lit up but the LCD wasn't visible. However a couple tweaks on the lcd contrast pot and there it was the IP address looking me in the face! Thanks Bryan and the Heater Meter community, I...

    OT: Amazon's new IoT service

I agree there isn't a whole lot of value add that you can't get some where else. Plus like I said who would pay for it, and if it was click adds who wouldn't ***** about them. The Alexa integration has started I will start a thread when it's complete. There will have to be a process that will...

    OT: Amazon's new IoT service

Well another thing you could do is create a recipes site, that users could upload their recipies, heat meter settings, and various instructions events and alarms. Then other users could download from the cloud these recipes, and cook them. For example I could upload my ragin' rattlesnake ribs...

    OT: Amazon's new IoT service

I work for Amazon and yes it's a pay model however you have to get to a certain volume. To pay for it you would have to do something like advertisements on the web gui to generate click revenue. You could also brand heatmeters with bbq vendors like weber or kingsford. You could also subsidize...

I have a 3D printer, and I am capable of assembling, and configuring heater meters. I am in Arizona, so if anyone wants a heater meter built we can work out a deal. Just message me, and I will be glad to help out and put together a kit for a small donation to my beer fund.

    Fan/servo operation mode

I'm new to the heater meter project, I was messing around with my arduino, and wanted to make a better PartyQ controller as it really is not a good PID controller (I don't even think it uses a PID). I came across this thread, and me being a lazy programmer I decided that I would save myself a...
