    Heatermeter/Raspberry Pi IP Address problem

So I did this and set a static ip rebooted and it worked. I picked up the Heatermeter and moved it to another part of the house with a different access point with the same ssid and password and it doesn't seem to connect. Any ideas why this would be? Is the way this stores networks mac specific...

    General 3D Printing Thread

Yeah! We use g code on the cnc. It's good stuff but takes quite a lot to generate that code with a drawing application. We use alphacam for the CNC stuff but its a different approach with carving out materials vs printing which lays the material down... Neil

    General 3D Printing Thread

What does a homemade printer cost? I think the problem I have is after building the printer is drawing the pieces. I have a woodworking business and we have a CNC machine and the biggest barrier we have is drawing the pieces. I am not a drawing kinda guy. I think it might be fun to build a...

    Heatermeter/Raspberry Pi IP Address problem

So I replaced my wifi device with the recommended one from the one that came in the kit with the pi I ordered. It made no difference. I went and deleted WWan and the interface and reboot and perform the steps in the wiki here...

I may have missed this but where did you get the plans (I assume it isn't a kit) for your printer? Thanks! Neil

    Heatermeter/Raspberry Pi IP Address problem

I am really having a similar issue. I setup the wifi without a problem and then I created the interface wlan. I configured the wlan with a static ip address and I can save and apply and even reach the interface while plugged in to the wired network. Subsequent reboots do not allow that ip...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Simple stuff but make sure the pi is on the right way? That the diodes are oriented the correct way along with the capacitors. That should do It I would think?

    Probes go on and off

I have a silly question: How do you know what version you are running? I see this in the web config: HeaterMeter Information Version 20130228B Is that version 10 and if so how do you know? Just curious? Thanks, Neil

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Yeah I looked again and all I did was pick the presets and repopulate things and hit save and apply. Now all are working but my pit sensor which is probably a soldering joint I screwed up fixing the others I didn't have to. I will go back in there tomorrow and work on it tomorrow. I need to...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Ok I am a total moron. I don't know why but the settings were different on those ports and when I picked the default and reset them it started working. I really am smarter than that but for some reason I appeared to be part of the lesser than average group. Hopefully my slowness might help...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I resoldered all four resistors today and same behavior unfortunately so that made me test with the water. I know I used the correct resistors but I will double check for sure. Man this is frustrating I have been through this thing with a fine tooth comb - I'd like to believe and I still can't...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I thought maybe it was the temperature issue being under 100 so I put the probe in some hot water. The pit probe read 135, food probe 1 read 1135?! and then the other two remained off. Very strange.

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Ok gents I am stumped for sure now. I confirmed that all of my plugs for the probes are properly grounded. I confirmed my solders for the resistors for each probe is measuring proper resistance on the board side. I have continuity between the one side of the resistor and the plug and I have...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Ok thanks for the info I have to admit I am new at this stuff :) I found that one probe works very well in one of the jacks consistently the other probes don't work in that jack and the working one doesn't work well in the other jacks. I will go back to internal and see if that fixes my...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

It is super exciting but I may have screwed something else up :) I plugged in my thermocouplers from my maverick and they still read "off" I went in to the configuration and set them all to thermocoupler. Any ideas? Did I miss a step or screw up something on the hardware side? Thanks! Neil

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Alright I hit some more joints that looks speculative (boy do I need a good set of magnifying glasses - getting old :( ) and now it seems to work! Hot damn! Very very exciting! Much appreciated for the wonderful product, thanks for all the help from the community, and thanks to Bryan for his...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

So some progress - I think I got a new Rpi and installed it and I can get to the website for the pi no problem. I ran the flash from the app and it said success so I don't know if that is a good thing. I looked on the display and now I have two full squares and the third one is blinking. I am...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I got it booted and it is stuck on bcm2708_spi bcm2708_spi.0: SPI Controller at 0x20204000 (irq 80) Any ideas what this is? This is the pi booted independent. My SD slot is broken and doesn't boot right. I bought a new pi and it will be here tomorrow but something is awry. Thanks, Neil

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Thats good news because embarassingly enough when I finally finished the unit this morning I went to power it up and forgot to put the chip in! I am concerned my Rpi is the issue. Can I boot it up without the heatermeter connected to an HDMI display and see how progress? Thanks, Neil

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I found it! That is the good news! The bad news is now I hooked it up and it doesn't work :( I am currently looking at all dark squares on my display. I don't have any other lights besides the red light on the raspberry pi. Any thoughts on where to begin my troubleshooting? Thanks so much...
