    INTRODUCING: the "Roto Damper"

    INTRODUCING: the "Roto Damper"

Ralph, Thanks for all of your work and advice on the Roto-Damper and the Fauxmodo. For the benefit of the class, what were your settings like in this test? BPID? Fan Min/Max? Looking forward to firing up the redhead tonight with its new roto-damper.

so how are you attaching your blower to the smoker

I did an airburner through the vent holes of my WSM 22.5". Had a real interesting time figuring out a de-mountable solution and was never happy with it. If I were to do it again, I would drill a hole through the bottom. See this thread...

Thermocouple / Probes with Significant Variances

Hi All, Just did two test burn-ins with my new "fauxmodo" (credit to Ralph for that) Akorn using one of my HM 4.2.4 with TC support. The TC amp and components were suppplied on-board from Bryan. I used a Auber K-Type TC and 3 x ThermoWorks TX-1001X ChefAlarm Pro Probes. I experienced...

New user questions about PID& ambient temp

It isn't so much about the HM as it is about wanting to see the commercial solutions' performance. Again, I am dubious that a Party-Q type solution can hold steadier temps than a HM and I haven't seen anyone support their commercial units' performance beyond, "I went to bed at X time and woke...

    High-temp tape for vent holes?

My WSM 22.5's bottom vents have loosened considerably with age. So much so that a stiff breeze can blow them open and shut with little effort. I bought the ten pack to plug up 2 full vents (8 plugs) with the remaining one being covered with a pet food bowl fan adapter. I also have "free" Prime...

New user questions about PID& ambient temp

Does anyone out there in this forum have both a HM and an "auto-tune" system such as the BBQ Gurus, Rocks Stoker, etc? I would really love to see a HM graphing a pit temp-only long-term burn of one of these control units doing their thing. I have been reading how people set their Party-Q (or...

    High-temp tape for vent holes?

The Home Depot and Lowe's prices are pretty ridiculous for the steel hole plug. You can pick up 10 for $8 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00MN6GEC2/tvwb-20

Tom, You are correct. You need to make sure that your home router is set up to forward the request to your heatermeter.

Rotordamper Aux. TC board with two probe jacks, blower and servo connections

Apparently I need some new ones too. Following the two recent 4.2.4 TC builds (boards from Bryan, with the TC components already installed) I noticed this behavior. I had purchased 4 thermocouples from Auber and they flop around every second or so within a 1 degree range. I figured this was...

Pit Meter App No Longer Able to Change Settings

Darren, Steve *was* right. I had re-entered my password a couple of times and it didn't work. I did it again and we are back in business. Is there anyway to add an authentication failure notice to PM? Thanks for the continually awesome app.

Pit Meter App No Longer Able to Change Settings

So, after getting my two new HM builds fully functional, I have noticed that Pit Meter will no longer change any of the settings or silence the alarms. It will also look at the current graph, but does not show archives nor does it allow to save a new one. Anybody else having this issue?

Brian, Sorry for the delay. The case was spoken for immediately after posting and I have been too preoccupied to post an update. I see that you might have already gotten your hands on one anyways. Enjoy!

Heatermeter 4 Case for Sale: Slightly Damp

I am a royal doofus and left the HM out all night. Surprise thunderstorm hit and wasted it. It wasn't "supposed" to rain until this afternoon. The board itself has some weird scummy film all over it and the RPi seems to be toast. Also lost an original WRT54g V2, but there are a few more where...
