    Performer Models

Other than kettle color, does Weber make - or have they ever made - more than one model of the Performer?

Howdy, Dan! I'm just up the road from you in Temple. Welcome to the forum. It is a great place to hang.

Vortex and Owens BBQ - An Unsolicited Testimonial

If you folks have never done business with Owens BBQ, let me reassure you that they are good folks. I ordered the medium size Vortex briquettes manager from them last weekend. After thinking about it for a day, I was concerned that I had ordered one too big for my 22.5" Weber OTG. I sent an...

    Is It Just Me?

Is it just me or is the automatic logoff function creating problems for others as well. Sometimes, I'll be writing up a post and when I hit SUBMIT I find out I've been logged off. Is there a setting I can change or is this done the same for all users?

    Thermometer Probe Port in OTG?

I did a search on this topic but the hits were mostly for the Performer and WSM grills instead of kettles; so I'm posting in the certain knowledge that these questions have been asked and answered before. First, the pros and cons of drilling through the kettle (base not top) vs letting the...

    Smoking on the OTG

Again, thanks for the support and suggestions. Here are my current results. I planned to smoke 2 STL rib slabs using the 3-2-1 approach. The ribs were slathered in yellow mustard and covered with a rub day before yesterday and left in the fridge in a baking pan covered with aluminum foil...

    Smoking on the OTG

Thanks for the responses. What ranges do you use for the Maverick ET-733? What HI value? What LO value? I have to admit that I am a bit to anal about temps. I think I let the range I set on the Maverick rule my world.

    Smoking on the OTG

I have been doing more and more smoking with my 22.5" OTG. I use my MES electric only for its ability to handle more food. I've been having trouble getting and maintaining temperature. While I'd like to have it run at 222.5°F for the whole period, Mother Nature says otherwise; so I come here...

    Storing Fresh Herbs

Mark, Ever considered growing your own? What fresh herbs do you most often use? I use basil, parsley, chives, oregano, thyme, cilantro and rosemary. All of them grow in a planter just outside my kitchen door. I harvest them as I need them. If they overgrow I harvest the excess and nuke 'em...

Dutch oven cooking on the kettle?

You might be camping without electricity but you you aren't really roughing it. The Lodge and similar DOs were made to cook over campfires. I'm not suggesting that you leave the kettle at home, but you should be able to make oatmeal and biscuits in a CI Dutch right in the campfire.

    Slide Aside Lid Holder

Thanks. I found one on Amazon after I entered the correct search string.

    Slide Aside Lid Holder

Can anyone tell me if this accessory is still available, and, if so, where it can be purchased? I could not find it on the Weber web site. A product number would help, too, if you have one. Thanks:blackkettle:

    Cleaning the SJ Mini WSM

Mac, when you say 'prime and paint' does that mean 2 coats of heat resistant paint? If not, can you give advice on what primer and paint to buy? I have Lowe's and Home Depot as well as a Sherwin Williams store close by. Thanks for the info.

    Cleaning the SJ Mini WSM

When I put mine together a couple of years ago, I was in such a hurry to try it out that I didn't bother to paint the IMUSA steamer. Now, I'd like to paint it to match the SJ but it is pretty grimy after much use. I know that most of you who painted their SJ/mWSM did so before first use, but...

    Mini WSM hits the UK!

Great job on the Smokey Joe! You actually got a much taller unit than those of us who use the tamale steamer solution. If you haven't already done so; you can add extra grills for cooks, especially those that don't necessarily require a lot of smoke. I really admire your determination and...

    Weber Kettles are Awesome!

Thank you, Bob! Do you use the 16" wok in a gourmet bbq grill (the one with the removable center)? I want to get the right size for my 22.5" g-bbq grill.
