Try a hotend temp of 230C Definitely check your Vref's if you can You're using RAMPS 1.4? Load this gcode into your machine. It will put the machine through it's paces and allow you to adjust the Vref to get nice, smooth motion. Give us a screenshot of your slic3r settings. :) There's...

Bryan, taming all that wire can be the most difficult part!

Unfortunately no. It would be nice if it did though. Maybe you can petition allesandro/sound over at the slic3r project to push the decimal value out. But I bet you could "fudge" it if you had to. I wonder if you could import the g-code in excel and then change the Z-heights to the...

Personally I've moved away from LMxUU's to sintered bronze bushings. They're cheap, they self-align and they're quiet. :) But in all honesty you can't beat linear rails...

That method is actually really good. It might not seem like it, but it works like a charm. I've tried helical couplers, fixed couplers, spider couplers and printed couplers. Tubing only is the best solution I've run into so far. If you're afraid that it'll slip then add zip ties around the...

Well, you just had to go there... :) I've got 1/4"-16 ACME on my small machine. Your layer heights will be a little different. Assuming 1.8 steppers your mm/step should be 25.4/(16*200) = 0.0079375 and your steps/mm is 125.98425196850393700787401574803. That is an ugly number. But it's...

Since I brought it up I might as well finish it off. The reason I'm not too thrilled with the M5 rods is their 0.8mm pitch. M6 rods would be better as they have a pitch of 1mm. This leads to some really nice things happening. Stepper resolution = steps/mm for a 200 step motor. For a 400...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

There is definitely a "design for 3D print" aesthetic that must be maintained. Tom has addressed a lot of these, but I'll add a few more "rules". The thickness of the "skin" of a 3D printed object is much more important than the amount of infill when trying to make a "strong" part. Typically...

Waterproofness really depends on the print, specifically how squished is the first layer? are there enough solid layers to provide a watertight base? Are there enough perimeters? Even though those objects look like they're holding water or other liquid they can let liquid into the center of...

Dave, are you running mach3? Do you have a 3 or 4 axis BOB? If you've got a 4-axis BOB you're in luck. Can you take a pic of your CNC? I've been joensing to get a CNC table for a while now. Matt

Definitely save up. You should check out the Pirate 3D machine on kickstarter. It seems pretty reasonable. The reprap pro machine? Adrian is the founder of reprap, so you really can't go wrong with his machines. That being said user friendly multi-color is still a ways off. As far as costs...

The case is pretty much finalized at this point for a standard LCD and round button from the BOM. I just need to update it to accommodate larger screens. Tom also has the file, so you can contact either of us if you'd like a case.

No. :) It meant that I got it! That does make sense. SPI is faster and doesn't need a hard reset, but overwrites the entire chip.

Ha! You are not alone.... :) Even though my machines are in a heated chamber I still open it up and watch them go with 115F air blasting me in the face. Deltas are even harder to tear your eyes away from. 0__0 I'm afraid that if I build one I'll never accomplish anything when it's...

She fits! But I need to move the nut traps up slightly to make it easier to assemble. So I've got some fine-tuning to do when I get home tonight. But the new case is nearly there! :)

Bryan, when you update the parameters in the 328p via the Rpi and AVRdude, do you have to bootload the chip every time or can you just update the program? Not a programmer (I've written minor arduino code, but that's it), so if you could dumb it down for me I'd appreciate it. :) Matt
