Fixed! Sorry about that - new to imgur and forgot to make the images publicly available.

Stan, per your request. Printing the orange case now. Matt

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

The files are up on my github. Both the source files and the .stl's. If they aren't manifold just run them through netfabb cloud service to fix them. The 1.5 case still has a few changes to be incorporated into it. I meant to update the case a while ago, but been too busy to do so. That...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Alan, you are essentially correct. :) Tom's original design is perfect to be printed by a service bureau, like shapeways or imaterialize. They can reproduce very finely detailed parts, at a price. :( Reprap, or FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) or Additive Manufacturing cannot reproduce the...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

I looked at that print and cringed a little. :( It looks like PLA, but PLA doesn't usually warp like that, especially with the thin walls that the case has. ABS will warp like that if the part isn't printed in a bath of warm air. I'll bet the problem (and why the PLA warped) has to do with...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Waiting on plastic to show up. There is nothing more frustrating than having a 3D printer and no filament to print with. If all goes well it should be here mid-week. @ stan, I haven't printed the 1/31 case yet, and I wouldn't advise you to do so either. I got some feedback on the...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Jason, You'll find that 4-40 is much more plentiful in the US. I originally used M3 because it's what I had on hand. A 1" 4-40 pan head screw should do the trick.

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

OK. First, the .stls and source file have been uploaded to github. But there are some options to choose from. The Top comes either footed or unfooted. The Bottom comes either footed or unfooted. It also has a hardware choice for you to make - M3 or 4-40. So there are (2) top files, and...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Man, So damn busy with work and home that I totally forgot to upload the .stl's Tom, I still haven't incorporated the changes to the openings. I'll get all that done at lunch today. //EDIT: My work PC kinda sucks. I'll make the changes tonight and upload. Sorry, Matt

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Per your requests... The case can be printed with or without the feet. The mounting holes take a #6 flat head wood screw, like this: The files are on my github if you want to look at them. If you want I'll generate the .stl's if you don't have 123D (or download it yourself and start...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Dave, you know, I hadn't considered that. I'll look into extending the tabs to make that possible. Kyle, it's actually safety orange. Might just be the lighting. I have a little bit of red left, but not enough to make a case out of. I'm ordering some more plastic soon though, probably...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Printed it out last night and this morning. Not perfect. I had to make some adjustments to the machine last night (re-leveling the bed, adjusting the Z-axis a bit, etc), so it might take a little while do eliminate some of the printing artifacts. But getting there. Matt

Make sure you snag Beta9 before Autodesk pulls it down. http://www.123dapp.com/123d#download123D They've released 123D Design, which is a dumbed-down version of Beta 9. Alternatively, you can go grab Inventor Fusion if you want a more industrial strength program. It's free as well, but not...

    Rare find today...

I just ate breakfast. Thought I was full. Now I am *STARVING*. Those look absolutely amazing! Maybe I need to hit up my local Mexican grocery more often.

Tom, That is what I was worried about. I'm kindof at a disadvantage without the hardware on hand. I like the new standoffs - much more robust. Can you email me or post the file for the bottom? I've revised the original remix to this: A bit larger, but better than the first one. I've...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Greg, It's a relatively new update to an existing design. Prism Mendel 1.5. I reworked an existing design (Prism Mendel) to optimize the build volume. The files are in my github if you want to take a look. I did a little work on the case this evening to get away from the tabs and moved to...

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Hello everyone! I've yet to build a heatermeter (parts on order...). I was directed to this thread about a 3D printable case for the 4.0 setup. The case looks great, but the walls are a bit thin for my printer. I've omitted the tabs and implemented M3 hardware (25mm bolts) to secure the...

Greetings from Atlantic City (or thereabouts)

Hello back! Ray, Well, I've got an 8 pound brisket in the freezer that I've got to do something with eventually, but my first test will probably be ribs of some sort. I'm sure I'll be asking for advice on dry rubs and cooking times in the near future! Kinda exciting getting into a new...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Dave, Thanks for the tip! Much cheaper than having three made. @ Greg P - I've got a 3D printer. If you can get me the .stl's (or point me to them) I'll see what I can do to print you off a case. Shouldn't be too expensive - plastic costs about $20/lb, and I can't see a case being too heavy...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Bryan, Greetings! I'm really interested in building a heatermeter 4.0. I haven't gotten my smoker completely together yet - maybe this Spring when the weather gets warmer. But I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron, so your end of the project will be my natural entrance to the smoker/BBQ...
