I have the ex6 and am coming from a spirit 310. I went with the 6 because it was a small investment for a lot more grilling and smoking space. I stopped using my spirit because the food busts seems to taste better off the Smokefire. It also heats up faster. No regrets here with going for the 6...
Gotta love Weber as a company. I emailed them about the $200 off and said it was a little frustrating that new owners get a discount on top of a well oiled machine while the original owners paid full price and was stuck problem solving for months. Got a response saying that they would have no...
Max Good from Amazingribs.com commented in the comment section of their Smokefire review that Weber has a second fix on the way for the hopper. Anyone hear about this? https://amazingribs.com/ratings-reviews/pellet-grill/weber-smokefire-pellet-grill
So I reheated the brisket the next day by putting it in foil and heating it for 25 minutes at 275 in the oven and it tasted better than the first day. It was much more tender. Does that mean I should have cooked it a bit longer initially?
So it turned out pretty good for my second try at a brisket. Great smoke ring and very tender but the flat was a bit dry.
Btw, I know I cut the flat wrong in the picture. I was cubing it for burnt ends.
That is great that you are enjoying the grill. It is interesting that you had a failed start up. Might be the pellets. I have only had two occasions where it failed to start up in the four months I have had the grill. Might need to prime it a bit with pit boss pellets
I am cooking for my wife (who is vegetarian), my 3 year old, 9 month old, and myself. I used the Smokefire to replace my spirit 310 gas grill. Obviously, I went for the ex6. Zero regrets!!! Go big and you won’t regret it!!
About 10 hours in and looking good so far. Think I have just about hit the stall. Probe 4 is a second ambient probe. Probe one is in the middle, probe 2 flat, and probe 3 is the point.
Trying for brisket number 2 tonight on the Smokefire. I was happy with the first but, having never cooked a full brisket before that, there was room for improvement. Started off at 12 pounds and now about 9 pounds after trimming. Seasoned with Meat Church Holy Cow and Holy Gospel with a mustard...
I use the plastic scraper that was included with the Smokefire to push the extra pellets out of the gap. It is really annoying putting pellets in the narrow hopper.
I believe the grill uses a 2.4 GHz signal. I recall reading that somewhere. When installing the update, keep you phone near the grill and don’t let the screen sleep on the phone. It is a little annoying but I have found it the best way to ensure the update goes through.
I definitely recommend...
