What to use for the work table brackets?

I went round and round with this trying to convert a newer plastic table'd genesis to the wood style. I spent 3 hours on a saturday morning researching Z brackets, including 'z bar stock' and trying to find a solution...... Aftermarket options are pretty much limited to rcplanebuyer (search on...

    2014 Go-Anywhere Gas Grill - Photo

Another difference that's not so obvious unless you've used both - the GGA is much more difficult to clean. The Q has a sloped bottom and a grease tray. The GGA bottom is flat and there's no tray, so you have to pick up and wipe out gunk from the top or risk a grease fire.

    2014 Go-Anywhere Gas Grill - Photo

Thanks George. I ended up finding both an unused older style gas go anywhere and an almost new q100 on the cheap! I also looked at a new style go anywhere and decided it was a significantly worse design than the older GGA with a dedicated flavorizer plate. I've used both the Q and the GGA...

Reverse sear on new Genesis S-330 - need help

As THoey said, 1" isn't enough to warrant reverse sear. I don't have a 330 but would be shocked if it could come up to sear temps with the lid open.......... Almost always remove the meat, foil tightly, closed lid with all burners on high, then sear. But at 1" thick you're probably better off...

    Genesis Silver C Questions

Serial number will tell you for sure, it's usually on the side near the propane tank. You may need to lift off the work surface to see it. I'll take a stab though... Looks to me like a genesis gold that had the lid replaced with a silver. The lower frame having stainless doors and the tray in...

What's a good way to raise the charcoal grate

+1, the charcoal baskets are the way to go. Brings it to grate level and holds it centered so it takes less to get to the grate. Another good method if you need more sear surface area is to use firebricks on their side (box of 6 are $20 from Ace) to make a triangle.

    weber gas grills_Sales?

Brian; it's pretty difficult to find discounted weber products. At the end of the season you can sometimes find good deals but it takes a LOT of work and luck. Basically constantly checking forums for closeout deals and hoping you're the first to get there. Personally I'm not sure it's worth the...

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

Thanks, I looked for a couple months to find a good donor. I like the redheads but really wanted the more subtle green.

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

I've done a number of 'burn in' / seasoning cooks with bacon and pork chops, but this is the first real cook. We have company coming over later today so I didn't want to mess with charcoal. Picked up a pack of chicken drummers, did a quick seasoning, and threw them on the grill. So quick and...

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

And to answer my questions from the original post: 1) Does anyone have a source for generic Z brackets for the wood shelves? - No luck with this. I looked for z brackets of all shapes/sizes, and the best original replacement is rcplanebuyer but they're $$. I ended up using a brace strip of...

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

Before: After: I'm extremely happy with the bbqparts.com bars and grates - they're very thick, and would not even begin to bend under a cast iron or turkey. The edges are smoothed down and finished well. My gray DR code performer also got cleaned up:

    2014 Go-Anywhere Gas Grill - Photo

What's the consesus on the new setup without a dedicated flavorizer bar? Our family has a beach house in a community that doesn't allow charcoal. I'm looking for something smaller than a Q that can be used for burgers, steaks, and other simple cooks. Is it worth the craigslist hunt to find an...

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

Anthony that looks great! My C is in pieces right now, I sanded them this evening and will paint tomorrow. I ended up buying the grates and flavorizers from bbqparts.com and am super impressed. I wanted the rcplanebuyer parts but they were +40% $$ after shipping. No doubt quality stuff but out...

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

Still looking for an economical source of the z brackets. I need enough for 4 shelves, so going through rcplanebuyer is cost prohibitive for this project. Also curious if someone with a 1000/3000 has any pictures of the side table brackets where it attaches to the main frame.

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

Yes, pics of the z brackets would be appreciated! I went ahead and ordered the grates from bbqparts.com. Made in USA, and they have the same number of crossbars. The rods are 5/16 instead of 3/8, but after accounting for shipping the price difference is substantial. Both are solid 304. Since...

Why are CI grates porcelain coated

Regular cast iron grates are a pain. They're perfect for making sear marks, but sear temperatures burn off the coating.

Converting a Genesis Silver to a 1000/3000, and other important refurb questions

Hi all; I recently picked up a Genesis Silver C to refurb for when I don't have the time to mess with charcoal. I really like the look of the 1000/3000 with the wood shelves, but prefer the flavorizer bar layout of the Silver. Solution? Buy a Silver/Gold/Platinum and convert to wood shelves...
