Thanks JK. I saw that. That's my option if the patch gives way, but I've had JB do some impressive stuff for me before. Got my fingers crossed. LOL the Mrs rolls her eyes every time I bring a lost peice of equipment home to refurb. So I try and keep costs to a minimum when I can. Gives me just...

I'm talking about the 'main' drip pan Bruce. I'm used to the 1000's that have the porcelain coated pan. this is my first two burner and the whole drip pan is aluminum as well as the small catch pan. the main pan was the culprit here. Had a hole resembling a gash about 3" long and 3/4" wide. I...

turning out nicely. Had to patch the aluminum drip pan as it had a hole melted in it. From the looks of it probably a grease fire. i am always shocked when i go look at these prospects i pull out the grease pan and they always look like its NEVER been emptied! I just used some JB weld and...

I hear ya CB. the rails is one of the things I check when looking at a grill, along with the left side frame anchor bolt. Both of those can make or break an easy restore for me. Took me two years to find this one. I look at CL every day, and go see some but there are so many out there and I'm...

Nah no flip on this grill Bruce. I'm doing this one for the weekend house (fishing shack :-)). No need to remove the end caps. The inside and out gets a good degreasing. I clean the caps really good, slide some news paper under them, and shoot them. Took the caps off on my first one but didnt...

painting and cleaning done. re-assembly tomorrow. the emblem will take a bit to sand after painting. but everything else should go back together quite nicely with some stainless steel screws. this the third that i have restored is so far the easiest and cheapest as the only parts I had to get...

Yeah Bruce those screws are scary. Have always left them alone. The rails are in good shape so I'll keep those in place. That's one of the things I check when looking at a prospect for restoration

So the restoration begins. found the standard frozen bolt in the left side, and a bit of cancer there in the frame that wasn't evident until the box was removed. [/IMG always been an advocate of penetrating oil and heat to coax the frozen bolt out but this one was very stubborn, and i grew...

JK can't thank you enough for that offer. I'm going to try and make a go with what's on here already even though the shelf has a melted edge on it. I'll post more pics as this progresses. Should have it done by the end of the week

Yep Bob...that was it. I used Imgur for another post later and it worked better. Used to use photobucket here but that went south and was trying to find an alternative

Thanks I used the bleach and water on the knobs the last couple restores and every year to brighten them up. Was wondering about the table and handle. I'll try some degreaser first

CL find tonight. Can't tell if it's a Silver A or a Spirit 500. Mica green hood, stainless grates, stainless bars. Burners, grates, ignitor box and bars all in top condition. After disassembly only appears to need several plastic end caps for the frame. Got it for $20. A project for the weekend...

Yeah Bruce, not sure what it is with the pictures. I can see them on some browsers , but not others??? Cant currently see them on Explorer, but no problem on my phone or Ipad. Might be the company servers blocking too.
