Nice score! Yah, it looks like the firebox is warped from the first pic and if it is then no biggie. If the grates stay put then it's still good and if not then just swap it with another one from a Silver/Gold. Other than that then just a good clean up should do the trick (even with those grates...

They are very nice grills but the main culprit IMO is the cabinet since Weber used cheap steel on that area...they will rust out over time if not taken care of. Very poor decision on Weber's part if you ask me for a grill that costs thousands brand new.

Swapping it with a propane manifold would be your best bet.

As far as protecting it, I'd be concerned about the cabinet as that's the area that is prone to rust out if not taken care of. I'd spray it with some kind of rust inhibitor and keep up with the maintenance on that area. The other areas are easy to repair/replace but once that cabinet starts...

That's a steal for $30! Just keep up with the cabinet and you'll be set for many years (might even be your last grill unless Weberitis kicks in lol)!

Not only will you have to worry about rusting in the cabinet, you'll have to worry about the electronics malfunctioning down the road...double whammy?
