    EX4 or EX6?

I only cook for two people 85% of the time but I am so glad I bought the EX6 to have for the other 15%. The only reason I can see to buy the EX4 is if you have a space issue where you park it. Go for the EX6 and you will be glad you did.

From what I understand you have to call and say you are having a problem. I believe if you order direct from Weber they will update the auger assembly and hopper insert before shipping.

    New EX6 Owner

When I called Weber with the problem the support person said my grill did not have the new auger assembly and they would send the updated welded assembly. When the new parts came I opened up the back and it did indeed have the new assembly but had not been installed properly. I would advise...

I was using Weber pellets. When I opened the rear access door the motor and auger fell out along with the two screws that hold them in place. Weber did not use the lock washers when they attached the new welded auger assembly and the screws came loose and fell apart. I attached the new auger...

    What Brand of Pellets?

The B&B Championship Blend is very good but are not readily available in Northern Illinois so I have to order from ACE at $29 for a 40 pound bag. I normally use Lumberjack at $10 for a 20 pound bag from Farm & Fleet .

    Power Cord Management

Yes I use it full time. I just connect the extension cord to it when I'm ready to cook.

    Weber pellet bag.

Bruno - have you used the bag to fill the EX6 yet? I haven't found any videos on it to see how it works so would appreciate your thoughts.

    New EX6 Owner

Been in the same house near CV mall for 40 years. Forecast can change quickly but all next week is supposed to be sunny and in the 60's - Fall is my favorite season. Heading out to Cattle and Cream shortly to pick up a couple 2" ribeye's to reverse sear on the SF. Hope all goes well!

So the SF is up and running again. The final problem was resolved with a new thermocouple. Once that was installed I fired it up and it took 14 minutes to get to 600. Supposed to have several days of nice weather here in Northern Illinois so hope to get a lot of cooks in before it turns bad.

I started the cook at 275° for about 30 minutes then raised it to 400° where it ran for about 45 minutes until it started dropping. I only took a quick peek twice during the cook. Was also using Weber pellets.

    New EX6 Owner

Finally made the plunge and ordered an EX6 direct from Weber. Arrived in 3 days and the first thing I did was look at the manufacture date and was disappointed to see February 2020. Assembly was easy and the initial startup went well and reached 600° in about 13 minutes. It came with the...

    EX6

Thanks for all of your comments. I decided to pass even though it was a great price at $850. I would have jumped on it if it was in a box but the floor model was all they had and I saw some large scratches and it was missing the manual and who knows what else. since I don't know what all comes...

    EX6

I have been following the Smokefire since they first came out but have been reluctant to pull the trigger because of all the problems. An Ace Hardware near me is discounting a floor model EX6 to $850 because they would rather sell it than wait for Weber to pull it. It has an early manufacture...

Cajun Bandit High Air Flow Coal Ring

Robert - thank you for your reply. Setting the coal ring off-center is the only way it will fit at all which makes it tilted and one side will be closer to the meat than the other. I tried to post a picture but it didn't work and haven't had time to figure out where I went wrong. I'm also...

18.5” WSM Mods and Gadgets - Oldie but Now a Goodie

Long time lurker but figured it was time I start posting. I’ve had my 18.5” WSM for about 7 years now but just recently started doing some mods. Following is a list of the mods and essential (IMO) gadgets I’ve added: -BBQ Guru DigiQ DX2 temperature controller -2 BBQ Guru eyelet kits for...

Leave as is or Auto Temp Controller

If you do a lot of long cooks I would get a temp controller. Even in winter I can set my DigiQ DX2 before I go to bed and it's still dead on when I get up in the morning.

Cajun Bandit High Air Flow Coal Ring

Has anyone put a CB coal ring in an 18.5" WSM with a DigiQ DX2 temperature controller? I just tried and the coal ring hits the DigiQ deflector plate and doesn't sit level. Wondering if there is a work around? Thanks!

Order WSM Smoke Day 14 T-Shirts

I get a message that the campaign is over. I assume that means I can't order a shirt now?
