    Fan Won't Shut Off

I put together a Ver 4.3 board. I also have a microdamper. On my first cook everything worked great. The temp went to my set temperature and leveled off within a couple of degrees. It then stayed within 5-10 degrees the whole 6 hours of the cook. Earlier today, I was working on my second cook...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I finally got my heatermeter and the micro damper put together. I have a large big green egg and need some advice. When I normally do a low and slow manually, I use a mapp torch to light 3 spots of the charcoal. I start adjusting my vents as the temp is coming up. With the heatermeter and...

No Communication / No HeaterMeter Board

It was erratic across all of them. When I first got the board working, sometimes they would say off and sometimes the temps were way off at room temperature. Because of the off at room temperature, I decided to put in the 47K resistors which I have on order. After searching the forums, I've...

Thanks for the reply I found that and am thinking about replacing all 4 of the 10k's with 47k so I was Testing with the other 3 jacks.

No Communication / No HeaterMeter Board

I am now troubleshooting erratic temperature probe readings. Trying to clean the board the best I can with alcohol but noticed what might be extra solder. Is the solder circled in red supposed to be there? I don't see it in the picture on the base board assembly page

    Soldering Advice

I got some 60/40, a brass sponge and a flux pen. Using the information in this thread, the soldering has gotten better but I still have a long way to go. I fixed up some of the joints but the heatermeter still isn't working. Here is a before Pic Here is an after I cleaned it up

No Communication / No HeaterMeter Board

Went over some of the joints and still not working. Guess I'll get out the multi meter and see if I can figure it out. When I go to flash the firmware I get Stopping LinkMeter OK LinkMeter platform is BCM2709 AVR fuses ERROR Starting LinkMeter OK

    Soldering Advice

I got some Radio Shack 60/40 0.032 solder the other day and on a couple of test joints it seemed to work much better. Since my heatermeter isn't communicating, my plans are to de-solder the components with the problem solder joints and resolder them. Hopefully the soldering will go better this...

No Communication / No HeaterMeter Board

I think my solution is to de-solder and then re-solder everything on the board. My soldering was pathetic but I am getting better. I used some alcohol to clean up some of the flux. I then hooked it up and flashed the firmware. It still didn't work so re-flashed the avr firmware and got the...

No Communication / No HeaterMeter Board

I tried re-soldering the pins that Peter mentioned and still the same. I don't have another HeaterMeter so these were fresh SD cards. I'll try the other recommendations this evening. Thanks

    Soldering Advice

I was using a SOAIY 60w soldering iron kit I bought from Amazon. At first I was using the solder that came with the kit. The label says Lead Free, .8 DIA, SN-0.7 CU, 2% flux. After that wasn't working well I switched to another tube I had laying around that I think the package said rosin...

    Soldering Advice

I'm somewhat new to soldering and have tried a few times in the past and am terrible at it. When putting together the HeaterMeter board, I had a lot lot of trouble getting the solder to stick. I got better at it and the LCD board went together a lot better. I think it has to do with my...

No Communication / No HeaterMeter Board

I just built a new HeaterMeter with a Raspberry PI 3 and am using the snapshot from HeaterMeter Snapshots directory With just the HeaterMeter board attached to the RPI, I can get into the web interface but get the error below. Do I need to upgrade the AVR firmware or is something probably...

    New HeaterMeter Build Extra's

Thanks for the feedback. For clarification when you say the "Pi 3 will work with the current snapshot image" does that mean the version that is released or the one you are working on and be will releasing? Once I read about the HeterMeter, I'm became like a kid in the candy store and am...

    New HeaterMeter Build Extra's

Over the weekend, I was searching for a BBQ thermometer that could be read from the internet for my BGE. I happened across the HeaterMeter and was very impressed with what I read. I ended up ordering the HeaterMeter V4.3 kit and a case from the HeaterMeter store. I am new to the Heatermeter...
