The replacement cookbox just arrived.. I can't believe it came so quick. They said it was backordered ?? Is there anyway to pretreat the panels so that they don't rust again ??? Wouldn't they gave changed the materials to avoid further claims and issues when they realized their initial mistake...

So last Sunday I has emailed Weber with some pics of the rust by the burners, they said they needed closer pictures. I had ordered a new sear tube and Flavorizer bracket set as they were all rusted through. Fedex said delivery was for Sunday. So yesterday I took off the manifold, cleaned it up...

Then it's really ridiculous that Weber doesn't warranty it !! The cookbox is the main part of the grill. How can they get away with that ???

Thanks. It still looks structurally sound to use. Hopefully I'll get a few more years out of it.

Is there any spray that can safely be used on the inside of the cookbox to stop any further rusting ?

I pulled off the front panel and bent back the heat shield a little , here are the pics. I don't think it looks too bad. The heat shield is rusting but I believe that piece is easily replaceable. What do the Experts feel ???

Thanks I know the bottom of the cabinet where the tank sits is rusting, as well as the piece that has a U in front/top of each burner. How do I get a good view of where the burners peek through??

My wife wants the E-650 in Black, I want the S-670, can anyone post pics of what the SS hood looks like after it's been used for a while ? I don't mean to drive everyone nuts but I want this grill to last a while and I want to be happy with my decision.THANKS

I spoke to Weber CS last night, they said the hoods are not interchangeable ? There is a space in the front of the E series , which the S series doesn't have, (that's why some people complained of the E's not getting so hot).I found a local dealer for a 2009 S-670 delivered for $1900, but not...

I spoke to weber CS today, they said a new grill cover was just made for these grills with NO VENTS at all. She said they are not going into the stores until store stock is depleted but can be bought through Weber directly but you must specify the NO VENT model.

I am leaning towards the S670 for the searing section, once I'm spending the $$ I don't want to regret it.However the discoloration of the SS is going to bother me , so maybe I should go with the E-650 ? This is my Big 40 Bday present , I want to enjoy it to its max !!Please help me decide.
