Gotcha. Yes, I will see what I can do with the card (if anything). It was clearly working before I started all of this as I took almost a full gig of pictures off the card and moved them to my computer before imaging the card for HM. Now, I had that funky 3.3v problem at first so maybe that...

    we need some sticky topics

FWIW, I'd offer to start said roll-up thread from a newbie perspective of how it would have helped me along since it's all still relatively recent in my mind. I can't contribute much to the HM project but a roll-up is certainly something I can do and would be happy to start.

Ralph, are you suggesting that the problem with my initial SD card is that something write protected it on a software level when I was setting up my HM/rPi? I'll certainly put it in the computer and see if I can format it and report back. I was wondering if the title of this thread should be...

    we need some sticky topics

As newbie to the forum, I did have some difficulty finding stuff (did a search today for how to reset the graph and found that no problem). I know on the XDA forum (for us Android tinkerers) for example, it's common to have a roll-up thread that covers a lot of stuff in detail often just...

Ralph, thanks. Yes, I do know about the lock/unlock and I did have the card readable. Here's what I think was going on with it. I know that when we first rooted some the original Nook Color tablets years ago that the SD card made all the difference in the success/failure of how well the OS...

Just change the SD card. All is well now. Thanks for dealing with my insanity over this. It was making me crazy.

Bryan, I haven't even been able to get the password set at all, it never seems to take it even after several minutes. I'm guessing that could be part of my problem. Should I just try to put a different SD card in and see what happens? I wouldn't need to write the image as HM will do that...

Right, it should look like logging in over Ethernet without WiFi connected. Should my WiFi settings get lost each time I plug the Ethernet in? This thing is making me nuts now. I don't get why I'm not seeing any Tx/Rx when it finds the router:

Man, now I have a whole new set of problems then because they're connected and all buttoned up in the case.

    new build

I just went through the whole deal here at the work office and am still having problems. I can't get logged into the router but my laptop is connected WPA-PSK with TKIP authentication looking at the properties of my WiFI. Everything was looking the same and when I unplugged power/unplugged...

Weird. I'm on a B version too so we should be seeing the same thing I suppose. I'm on WPA2-PSK as well on my router. I brought the thing to work after lunch so I'm going to try it out here too and see if I can get something happening. I did just boot the rPi by itself and that didn't tell me...

Well, I narrowed down that for whatever reason I'm not getting an IP for the WiFi dongle. It connects but the router isn't giving it an IP: That's it with the MAC address starting w/ a 74. I'm wondering if something is wrong with the WiFi dongle as it's at a very low signal and it's just a...

Yeah, I tried that twice, once with the Wifi dongle in the lower USB and once in the top one just in case. What I didn't try was this: When you Scan for your network and you connect to it and then you hit the Save button, look up in the top right corner of the window if you see any in red...

Hmmm, that's not what I got. I get this instead: If I unplug the Ethernet, I can't even get to it via the 192.168.201.1, the http://heatermeter.com/devices/, or the "hmpi" that I set up in Interfaces.

Ramiro, I'm having the same problem with the EW-7811Un. I suspect what is going on is that after I remove the network cable and reboot with just the WiFi, the IP on the HM shows up as 192.168.201.1 which is outside of my WiFi network settings on my router. All other IPs fall in the...

    Flashing LED/Screen after dropping it

Yep, found a 12v one from an old router and plugged it in and all is fine. Put the pit probe in and it's reading about right as well. Wow. What a relief. I need to learn to hope for the best rather than expect the worst. I'll monkey with the WiFi tomorrow. I'm drowned in tequila sorrows...

    Flashing LED/Screen after dropping it

You guys are awesome. I feel like I owe each of your a six pack. Looking at the board, I had no idea how anything could have been affecting this even with my funky 3.3v wire. I dropped the whole enchilada though, probes, HM, power supply, fan assembly, all together in one big zip lock bag. I...

    Flashing LED/Screen after dropping it

Bryan, I just plugged the power supply in and noticed that the green light on it is flashing on/off each time the HM flashes so maybe I do have a short. I'll check everything with the meter tonight. Thanks for the suggestion.
