Success! I got the blower running last night. I think I probably didn't seat the wires down in the jack far enough last time. Also jumpered my red led, so it's working now too. I've got the new rPi coming today and a servo tomorrow (yay Amazon Prime).

John, good point, and I know very well it's probably a good practice to test without the Pi if I'm going to be poking test probes near a 12v lead. Steve, that's very helpful -- thanks.

Mine's the same -- under the microscope.

I don't know much about circuits, but obviously that connection is running straight through a hot grill, which can't be good for it. Maybe ask the robot to move it?

The LED? I believe so -- long lead at the bottom (+) side.
