New to Stoker....some questions.....long boot up time?

Hey Kevin, Just saw your email and sent you a reply with info. If you get this post first, look on page 17 of the manual. Here is a link to the manual on Rock's website. http://www.rocksbarbque.com/Manualnew.pdf Good luck, Kg

Gotta Say, I'm Impressed With My DigiQ DX

Hey Morrey, Good info. Like I said earlier, I liked the RO, especially for the money and availability. I was just a little disappointed in its density and % of wasted compared to WGC. I do a lot of long smokes and like the longer burn time. Yes the 2nd perpendicular grate works well and...

How stable is your temp controller?

I am definitely not a Stoker expert as I only have two cooks under my belt, but from what I have seen with the Stoker, once it gets stable it usually fluctuates within a +/- 3-5 degree band. So I would say a 3 degree band is great and I wouldn't change it. Good luck, Kg

Gotta Say, I'm Impressed With My DigiQ DX

Hey Ray, Thanks for the info. Read the review on Cowboy in the link I posted in previous reply.....so definitely will not be going that route. I am interested to try other lump from these feed mills. I live by Annapolis, MD so not real far from you. Can you give me anymore info on these...

Gotta Say, I'm Impressed With My DigiQ DX

Morrey: I have only tried 2 types so far....Wicked Good (WGC) and Royal Oak (RO). I tried these 2 based off a really good lump charcoal review webpage I found (http://www.nakedwhiz.com/lumpindexpage.htm?bag) and a recommendation from Rob on here about WGC. My observations on these 2: --the...

Saturday 18.5 WSM Mods Pic Heavy

Yea I have been very impressed with the clay saucer and clean up is so easy now. I like the look of the C&C door as well and I don't think it will do much for heat control. I haven't bought it yet since I am contemplating getting a 22 WSM now that I have the stoker and using lump has gotten...

Saturday 18.5 WSM Mods Pic Heavy

Yes I have done several. I have an older 18" WSM (about 5 years now). So one of the first things I did was put a thermometer in the lid. But since then I used an ET-73 and now I have upgraded to the Stoker since I found myself not smoking as much as I liked since the long overnight smokes...

Gotta Say, I'm Impressed With My DigiQ DX

Well I got to agree with Larry on using the lump charcoal over the Kingsford. I used K for 4 years based off Chris A's methods and it is cheap and readily available everywhere. But after trying lump charcoal with an ATC, I will never go back to K. I am not even going to comtemplate the taste...

    Probes thru eyelets

Morrey, Are you sure the probe won't go in. I use those same probes with eyelets (not the BBQ Guru ones) and I can get the 90* probes through it with a little turning and finessing (sp?). It takes a little bit to figure out how to turn the probe the right way to get it through, but it will...

    Cleaning Stoker pit probe

Hey MIke, I am not sure what is the best or preferred cleaning frequency, but I like to keep mine fairly clean so I plan on cleaning it in the boiling water every couple of long smokes. The main reason I asked on how to clean it in my original post in this thread was becasue I noticed a temp...

    Cleaning Stoker pit probe

Tried to do a search, but really did not find anything on what is the best way to clean the pit probe sensor end. After a very long smoke, the sensor is pretty much dark brown now and can't seem to get it to come off. When I smoked yesterday and had the food probe and pit probe in the WSM...
