    Refurb assistance needed in NYC

Drew, thanks for posting this. I'm not sure how they are shipping this to anywhere in the lower 48 for $5, but mine arrived today. Using the HF angle grinder, I made a new axle for my SSP. The old axle was extremely rusty. I have enough left over to make a new axle for my ongoing Genesis 2...

    KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus Mixer

Larry, what's your eBay seller account name? You can PM me the info if you don't want to post it. I bought my Hobart K5A from the original owner's granddaughter who "upgraded" to a newer Kitchenaid.

Genesis Gold lid interior rust problem

That second layer is spot welded and you can take it off several large chunks at a time with a pair of pliers. Note: the outer layer may discolor, but it's better than having rusty chunks of metal possibly fall in to your food.

Perhaps reinventing the wheel? Stainless steel tool hooks for the Weber Kettle

I've parted out several grills lately and I have a surplus of stainless tool hooks from the Genesis 1000 series. Two hooks in particular were really bent, so I had no qualms about experimenting with them. The tools I used to bend these into their new shape were needle-nose pliers large...

    KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus Mixer

I think LMichaels is the guy you want to speak with. I've replaced the gear on an older Kitchenaid mixer (model K5SS) and also own the older version made by Hobart (K5A). If you're reasonably handy, you can probably fix it. There are plenty of youtube videos that covers the repair.

    Amazon/Uniflasy grate fit?

I've actually had decent luck with used Weber stamped stainless grates (have owned 4-5 sets that came with project grills). 1 set was completely trashed (but it was from a seacoast town), another 2 sets collected about 6 months apart each had a grate with a broken weld (I made 1 good set out of...

Anyone in the Juniper FL area want to rehab a Crown Verity Grill??

Jon, I tend to sell my grills on a particular facebook "trading post group" for a particular town 2 towns over from me that is closed to the general public (to join, you need a moderator's approval and all that good stuff), and of course my wife is in that group also. She pretty much knows when...

    My first Weber gasser

Congrats, that's a solid buy at $150 and if it included those stainless grates. BTW, the catch pan belongs underneath the drip tray, not on top of it. I'd consider upgrading the flavorizer bars at some point. You may find that this grill cooks so well that you won't buy another one.

    Fair price for used Performer

It looks like a 3rd generation Performer without gas-assist. People upgrade the work table to a metal one from a 4th generation Perfomer using p/n 65189 for ~$70 (it might be cheaper directly from Weber). In my opinion, it's not a great price.

Heat Output/Searing: Early 90's Genesis vs newer models

Technically, the total rated BTUs on a 3-burner Genesis 1000-5000 = 35,000 (so 11,667 BTUs per burner) whereas the Genesis Silver/Gold was 36,000 (12,000 BTUs per burner) Spirit 700/900 -> 33,000 (11,000 BTUs per burner) I did find that the my Genesis 1000 did take slightly longer to cook my...

    Amazon/Uniflasy grate fit?

Bruce, I tried out a similar set last year (the brand name was Bar.b.q.s that were advertised as 17-3/4 long but they ended up being 17-3/16) -> https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B06Y479X2R/tvwb-20 If I shifted the grates a certain way, I was able to get one of them to fall into the...

C'mon guys...let's see your spare Weber parts

You guys may get a kick out of this story.. I was at a campground earlier this week where someone had thrown out a ~2006-2007 Weber Spirit E-310 (essentially the same as a 2005 Weber Genesis Silver B but with a spice rack on the left instead of a swing-up shelf). Its bottom shelf had rotted...

Jon, I've used this vendor before: http://www.clickitandstickit.com/dont-see-your-decal-click-here/ He asked for a photo of the sticker I wanted reproduced and then asked for the rough dimensions of it. No minimum purchase, no payment up front. Here's a sample of what he reproduced for me...

My Holy Grail Has Been Found.

It's a discontinued Weber accessory that has two built-in lights. It's very 90s technology though, it uses THREE C batteries per bulb. Congrats, Rich. I'm always impressed by the Weber stainless FBs on the Genesis 1000-5000 series, even if they are only 18-gauge steel. I've scavenged several...

    Check out my Skyline find

The regular burner knobs have a stem, the side burner knob does not. Thanks for the offer, Jon. A while back, I parted out a 2005 Silver B that came with black knobs and igniter button and I liked how they looked, so I installed them on my 2004 Gold B. I added a side burner which came with a...
