I think it's great that you were able to remove the plastic endcaps, sometimes they put up quite a fight. If you take a look at the right hand side of the frame, it has provisions to add an additional swing table, if you're able to find someone selling the swing tale and the endcap.

This one had been up for sale for $50/obo all week, and it finally became free this morning. It only needs a lower wire shelf and a drip pan+drip tray from being serviceable: it came with stainless weber FBs and stamped stainless weber grates (and for once, neither had broken welds).

Noooooo, don't ever cut the lid. It's not the cotter pins that's causing the clearance issue. The clearance issue is caused by these additional ridges on the lid endcaps: It takes about 30 seconds per side to remove the ridges with a bench grinder as the endcaps are aluminum. TRUST ME...
