I'm not a fan of the thermometer being installed in a ga. I think the heat is just not controllable enough to get anything out of a gauge. Most times it's hot, hotter and really hot.

Someone makes one similar to ops one. But with two pieces. A slot in one piece and a bolt and wing nut. Now you can move the barrier part in or out for more or less coals.

Have seen folks make their own shields. Not that difficult. Or just use a glove.

I have seen many differant ones. Some fancier than others. You can search youtube to find them.

I can take one. Might be a day or so. But it is simple, you put the washer against the bowl, then the leg and then the hardware.

Seeing that red makes me want one so badly. Years and years ago I saw a red one for sale but upon looking closer it was severely chipped. Near made me cry. So now I need to find me a place that can do that nearby. I assume that is real porcelain and not powder coating ?

Thanks richard. I have been obsessing about making a riser. But only made in germany or australia or nz. Looking for a small fabricator locally. But the material and labor may be just as costly as ordering one. Still working on it so have no real results yet.

Bob, have you seen what you can do with the go anywhere ? And besides that, you need a nice charcoal option. Maybe a smokey Joe for the son ?

I use ss hardware. At all these I use ss fender washers inside and out. Most of this damage occurs from rough handling like dropping the grill down on a hard surface and over tightening. So in this case, just put some pam to prevent rust or use high temp paint and then use the washers. They...

I would just return it. You should not have any issues at all. Dont mess with it or you void the warranty.

Make sure to watch plenty off youtube videos on this subject. There are tricks, no need to freeze the tanks, and dangers of over filling so you need to weigh them.

I have one like that new in box. Also have one unused with the handles having more written on them. Dang, I'm going to have to look at my stock as I have not looked at them in 4 years.

Very interesting way of doing it. But I have had no issues so not sure what to recommend.

Our laws are more lax than European laws. So they have this plate for charcoal models. They also hot the shields between the lids and handles. The gas models got a shield between the holes on the bottom and the burner. Guess for heat and fire safety ?
