Only adhesive was 5 min epoxy on the servo mount and the arm to brass damper, no heat. Also a ring of silicone around the pet bowl. If you notice, I have installed a muffin fan in this one. I have not tried it out yet and probably won't for a long time as I just ordered Big Green Egg. The...
For what it's worth this is how I made the variable dampers without one of those nice 3D printers. They are made from 3 1/2 inch PVC and the end caps are called Test Caps which I found at menards. You can get the brass sheet from ACE or about any hobby shop.

Phillip, Don't let my experience and thoughts discourage you. Three dampers did work and I was using the default PID values which were not designed for this application. If you add a fan to one and fiddle with the PID you would probably end up with what you are looking for. Good luck and I...
I actually did this. By daisy chaining 2 Y-harnesses (available at hobby store) I drove 3 servos no problem. I made variable opening dampers, I will try to find the pictures which are around here somewhere. My first attempt was actually with just 1 and as you
guessed was not enough air. I...
Here is the log file for the text which failed. The email came through fine.

I am assuming it is configured correctly as I am getting emails from it. The SMS is a just an email sent to my phone number but maybe there is something wrong there. Dan
I'm not able to get SMS to work. Getting emails just fine. I'm on ATT and it appears you have the correct suffix for the number. I tried sending a text from my mail program and it works fine so it's not my phone. Thanks for the update! Dan
Wow! That $75 Western Grill would be equivalent to $572 today! That's according to a consumer price calculator I found. That's darn expensive for 1963, no wonder my Dad didn't have one.
Upgraded to 9 and all works great except for the servo. The servo when plugged in goes greater than 90 degrees against stop in same direction no matter what numbers are put in for pulse duration. I did notice to use the full us instead of a factor of 10, so that's not the problem. I checked and...
Here is a 12 hour 7.5 lb Butt cook on WSM 22. Used KB with top vent 1/4 open. This is first cook with swing open damper installed on fan. Didn't seem to make a lot of difference compared to previous cooks without damper. It's neat to see the spike at about 12:00 and how the PID dampened out...
Here is the one I bought. It's less than I said $22.95. Good luck!

For what its worth. First time I used heatermeter was with 1 amp wall wort. It went wacky during cook with fan on constantly and button switch not working, probe 3 went disconnected. Power cycling returned it to normal. I purchased a high quality ul approved 5 amp security camera power source...
Reading your post I didn't see where you tried to adjust the LCD potentiometer. Turn the screw one way or the other and see if your LCD starts working. If you only get the top row to show solid blocks then reflash hm.exe from configuration page and you will be good to go. As far as the part...
Bryan, I am going to put 47k resistors in a heatermeter for 732 probes. The wiki says to replace the 10k resistors. I just want to confirm whether that means all 5 or just the 4 in a row located by the probes. My guess is the 4 in a row. Thanks, Dan
