    HMv4.0 to HMv4.1?

Ralph, Installed your blower mod and added an RJ45 jack for blower, servo and 3 probes to my 4.0. Using your idea of running cat5 to deck I also installed the 3 probe jacks on my blower. It is working great except that I am getting the noise icons and the pit probe is jumping around a couple...

    INTRODUCING: the "Roto Damper"

John, If you are able to find how to have these boards made please let us know. Now that the cold weather has arrived here in Chicago the thought of just running a cable out to the smoker is sounding real good right now. Thanks, Dan

First time restore questions - Genesis 1000

I've had the same problem with those nut inserts and have been unsuccessful in finding them. If you find them please let us know where. I was able to buy new tubes from Weber and they were reasonably priced at the time. I bought them before the infamous Weber price increases in parts so they...

Absolutely loving my new GrillGrates - incredible grill marks & almost no stick

Thanks for the info. I just saw the picture at the top of their website showing them sitting on top of original grates, that didn't interest me at all and I didn't dig any further. Now I do see that they are available as a complete replacement and just might try them out. Thanks again. Dan

Absolutely loving my new GrillGrates - incredible grill marks & almost no stick

So with custom cut grates do you still put them on top your original grates?

    For you electronics whiz's

Just plugged another rPi in and the HM4.0 came back to life. Looks like I just burned up the rPi. That will save a lot of trouble.

    For you electronics whiz's

Thanks Ralph, Now that you mention it I remember the discussion but it was certainly over my head. Just might study that thread and resurrect the 4.0 board with your mods. Should make for a fun winter project. Thanks again. Dan

    For you electronics whiz's

Good news is I completed a 4.2.4 and it works perfectly! Even did the SMT components myself. Bad news is I burned up my trusty 4.0. I was trying to put an RJ45 jack in place of the separate servo/blower connections. I had done the servo mod a long time ago and it has always worked fine so I...

    Here I go again

I think because they last so long is the reason Weber increased the part costs so much. I really like the new ones but my 20 year old 1000 will last another 20 after the rebuild a couple years ago. Might be a while before there are "after" pictures of this one but I will post them when done! Dan

    Here I go again

Thanks! These grills are fun to work on, just not sure what to do with it when finished. Couldn't let him junk it.

    Here I go again

Thought I was done restoring grills after doing three. My own plus one each for the kids. Friend and neighbor calls and tells me he is chucking his Weber. I try to get him to sell on Craigslist but no go, so here it is at my house. It is pretty cool and in remarkable shape for being almost...

    New Builder - Fan Issue

Check the orientation of the power mosfet at Q3. I had installed mine upside down and got similar low voltage at the fan. That is the only help I can offer. Good luck!

Which one of you wiseguys is selling this "like new" grill?

I like the way it's full of charcoal also!

a kind of restoration but do not take it word-for-word

That is not a coating on the inside of the lid, that is carbon build up from use. I wouldn't bother trying to clean it all off as it will just build back up with use. Just knock the loose flakes off and you are good to go. Dan

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Put a Pork Butt on at 5:30 pm yesterday and Heatermeter has been doing it's excellent thing as usual. Had to reposition the food temp probe at 6 am as it was in a hot spot but not done yet. Only 4 hours to go on the XL BGE, Took Butt out at 187 as most other parts were in the 190's. Here's...

    Unknown BBQ WSM Hinge

Get a set from harbor Freight. I have used them many times, they work great and nice to have around for odd jobs. http://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece-titanium-nitride-coated-high-speed-steel-step-drills-91616.html

Intake-side servo damper for BBQ Guru Blower

Is this what your looking for maybe? Here is a 250 degree Rib cook and a 350 degree Brisket cook (best brisket I ever made by the way!). The fan never ran after heat up, fan on at 100% only, so it was vent only for entire cooks. This is on a XL BGE. I've posted pictures of my control on...

WiFi Stoker Kit Automatic Temperature Control System

I use the stoker from the start with bottom vents closed. As temp is rising I put food on at about 175 deg. If you have right amount of lit on your minion the stoker will take it to your set temp and level off with no spike. I would just use the cycle off/on if for some reason I got a spike...

WiFi Stoker Kit Automatic Temperature Control System

Just as a follow up, the oscillations are supposed to dampen out but sometimes it takes hours depending on your fire. Watching the temp and cycling Stoker off and on when it drops to your set temp should level things out and keep your temp within a couple degrees from then on. At least that...
