HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Just wanted to add my thanks to Matt among all the others. I received my red case a few days ago and had the HM installed in minutes. I could not believe how perfect it fit and how great it looks. Thanks to all who have contributed! Matt, your printer must be running 24x7 right now. Thank you!

    rPi+HM4 LAN and WiFi Issue

No real solutions yet, but a few updates in my ongoing testing: 0. The problem is repeatable, but not deterministic. When it occurs once, after powering off for 60+ seconds and rebooting, the problem will typically occur again within a few minutes. 1. @Dave: Thanks, but I've mostly ruled...

    rPi+HM4 LAN and WiFi Issue

I'm moving my future musings about my Wireless stability issues here to keep from cluttering other threads. I'm not looking for any quick resolution feedback, but I want to keep posting findings as I dig deeper in case anyone else has similar problems. If anyone happens to have an idea, please...

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

I confirmed that the rPi and LM PCB continue communicating after my Edimax goes offline (no flashy blue led). So, at least the rPi is not completely locking up. I'm going to start testing tomorrow without the LM PCB connected; I'm not sure at this point if the issue is the Edimax, rPi, or poor...

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

I had tried installing and uninstalling the linkmeter feed, but I didn't realize there were individual packages for kmod-8192cu, librrd, etc. Installing the kmod-8192cu package manually added the 8192 driver option into the menuconfig (kernel->wireless drivers). Next, I discovered that the...

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

make package/feeds/linkmeter/spi-bcm2708/compile V=s works for that package. However, the package/feeds/linkmeter/ folder doesn't include the 8192cu folder; only linkmeter, rrdtool, and spi-bcm2708. should it??

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

Ah ... of course I had not downloaded the 8192cu source code, but now I understand the README file in the 8192cu folder. So, I dropped just the driver code into the src folder (with Kconfig at the top of the folder). The .config shows 11N support now, but it is still not building 8192cu.ko...

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

After a clean build, the rPi and AVR board are communicating, so HM is running and graphs are pretty via lan. Wireless kernel modules are missing though ... CONFIG_DRIVER_11N_SUPPORT=y that is in the default config.BCM2708 is being overwritten with CONFIG_DRIVER_11N_SUPPORT=n after 'make...

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

Well, the build completed cleanly without any problems. My board boots openwrt, but the AVR is not detected ('No HeaterMeter board attached'). I was able to successfully flash the bundled AVR firmware via the gui, but after reboot AVR is still not detected. linkmeter baud is set to 38400...

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

0700 patch set applies cleanly. but the 0600 patch set is for the kernel which I don't think is uncompressed into $WRT_PATH/build_dir until after the build starts. Should install.sh be copying the 0600 patch to $WRT_PATH/target/linux/brcm2708/patches-3.3 ?

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

I didn't intend to spawn more work Bryan, but I started looking into the issue and realized I'm lost without first understanding the openwrt build. Thanks.

    Building HM4+rPi openwrt from source

I'm attempting to build the openwrt and linkmeter files from source for the first time. mkdir ~/heatermeter cd ~/heatermeter git clone https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter.git svn co svn://svn.openwrt.org/openwrt/branches/attitude_adjustment openwrt cd HeaterMeter/openwrt source ./install.sh...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Thanks Alan ... I probably do need to boost my wifi to keep the signal strong. I have confirmed that my attempts to hotswap the Edimax between USB ports is causing the board to reboot. I need to see this fail a few more times, but then may try adding a watchdog for the wifi connection to an...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Ok, I got to try out my HM+rPi on a low-slow cook over the holiday break and am finally getting around to posting some results. This was using the Nov 2012 firmware. First, I was amazed at the HM's ability to regulate pit temperature. From my photo below, you will notice I jumped right to...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Thanks Bryan ... I (obviously) missed the fact that the rPi can program a blank ATmega328P-PU. Very nice.

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

Another success Well, I got my HM4.0 PCB soldered up last night and so far, so good. I had one cold solder joint that prevented my control switch from working in the UP direction, but this was straight forward to track down ... I'll probably go back tonight and clean the board with rubbing...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

I ordered on Nov 7 and my Pi just arrived ... hopefully the PCB will follow soon. Thanks for sharing any updated info from Laen if you receive it. I had been looking for a Arduino and Raspberry Pi project for a while. So, building this to smoke meat will be the full trifecta.

HM version 4 Rpi 3d print case

Has anyone found a lower-cost alternative to shapeways? They are quoting $75 now w/ tax for White Strong & Flex and $90 for black. thanks, Eric
