Stoker - From outside my local network

There is not a setting for the gateway on the Stoker, but then again, the Stoker does not try to initialize communications except to find a DHCP server if needed. The routers seem to be unaware of their presence when using a Static IP. A computer on the other hand is continually trying to...

Stoker - From outside my local network

I always though routers were pretty stable beast. I've learned quite the opposite. I am using a Belkin router now. I have it configured to assign address between 100 & 200. If I assign a static address of 35 to the Stoker, it will not work under any circumstance. However, if I set up Stoker to...

Stoker - From outside my local network

After more experiments, I find that an IIS2 web server running on a static IP address will run just fine on the same router with port forwarding. It seems to be just the Stoker that is relevant here. Very Odd, I wonder what the router is looking for before it will forward the request.

Norton doesn't care about the crossover cable, believe me, that's a function of the network card only. Send screenshot of the IP properties screen, I feel the problem lies there.

2nd Stoker Cook Issues - Any Ideas

Glad you got it going Larry. There's a saying though, "the proof is in the pudding." In this case, the proof will be in the pork butt. Make sure you read the post about sealing up the vents, get yourself a platter and cover it with foil, and do a test burn, checking your smoker temp only and see...

I think you'll find that after un-installing Norton, your computer will appear to have gained a lot of horsepower. When I finally gave up on mine, it seemed like I went from a VW to a Ferrari. Let us know how the test went.

Steve, Take the stoker with one probe and the laptop to the room with the router to see if Amir's program will stay on-line via telnet. While you're in there, you can dump Norton. I haven't used Avast but I've heard good things. Another free one is AVG. You can the free edition at...

Have you been to the Symantec web site to look for solutions? If you bought the CD, you can un-install it, check the problem, then re-install it with out problems. If you downloaded it and did not get the extended download, you may be stuck with it. I would also try one last thing. If your...

This is funny, I finally found the thread that I had seen before -- and wouldn't you know it Ken, it was a thread where you were explaining this to someone else. http://tvwbb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9270072103/m/2990056605 I have the LAN set with the static IP address that is the same...

Ken, which Linksys Router are you using? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Actually, I am now using a Netgear KWGR614, I was using a Belkin until yesterday. I have information on all the Linksys routers, is there something I can help you with?

You should also set up a static IP on your laptop if you're running them direct. If you are not, it's hanging on to what it already knows but might still be looking for resolution. On XP, you can use DHCP and still set up an alternative static address. Just make it match your normal router...

    Stoker Log 4.2

Steve, Since you are running a cable directly from your laptop to the stoker, you should run both devices with a static IP since there is no DHCP server in the loop. You should also use a crossover cable, crossing 1&2 with 3&6 or a crossover adapter, even though your adapter seems to have...

Thanks Ken. I would have thought it was the laptop also, but I had been able to successfully run StokerLog for a couple of months prior to Christmas. I havent used it in awhile while I was making repairs to my smoker. So that is why I'm really puzzled now. I really enjoyed using the application...

    Stoker Log 4.2

Steve, I think your problem may be with your Laptop. Some of these go to extreme energy saving modes when they sense no activity and it very hard to control. It's kinda like the old dialup connections trying to download a big file and it keeps timming out. Did you try it with a dekstop machine?

    Stoker Log 4.2

Thanks Jack, I'll see if I can locate on of those. I thought at first it was my ISP, but found I could do remote management through port 80 and that shot that notion. The one I have now says it'll do port translation and it might, but not on port 80. Same deal my last linksys.
